iTunes login/password

In the last few days when purchasing music from iTunes it's consistently asking me for my password eventhough I am logged in 24/7, where-by in the past the purchases would go through automatically once logged in. Is that a new safety measure by iTunes ? I like the safety measure btw, I am just curious about how the…

It was always like that. But if you make another purchase within 10 minutes of the last one it won't ask your password.
