I was looking at some 23" screens over at hwvs, there seems to be a bunch of Samsung S23A700D 3d monitors available here http://www1.hardwareversand.de/1649/58+cm+%2823%29+.search?agid=1649

but there's a note below most saying "Durch Hersteller ausgetauscht" or "Verpackung: geöffnet" with translates to "replaced by manufacturer" and "packaging opened".

What exactly is the deal with these units?

They're refurbished units, or display units. Should be in perfect working order, maybe some blemishes on the casing or something, though.

I'd be more concerned about them being 2nd hand refurbished units than display units tbh.
The former would be likely to have a lot more useage than the latter, and I can get the slightly newer (although pretty much idential specced) S23750D model from pixmania for €299 plus delivery; so the €230price tag isn't that great.:(

can you do an international bank transfer from a bank you don't have an account with?

Ulster bank told me that 'hopefully' I could send money on Friday, but that's not exactly encouraging. I'm getting tired of waiting.

I'm very lucky Irish Life forced me to open a PTSB account to get paid into, or I'd be waiting too on my UB student account :pac:

Nice, I didn't even realise this was being made. :D

Last total war game I played was empire, didn't like it that much, and runs very slowly on my ancient pc; can't even try shogun 2 till I get new machine.

I'm wondering now whether or not I should get a 2nd gigabyte 670 to SLI, when running large RTW2 battles with maxed out settings in near future :D

Im so sick of their crap. I'm building my first rig soon and I've been waiting for this moment for ages.

Anyway. If anyone knows an Intel employee you can get a i5-3570k for €113 delivered. I ordered it through my mate Friday before the weekend and it arrived from america this morning. Let me repeat, cheap ass processor in 2 working days + 2 non working.

I'm being offered 2 options for delivery on my HWVS order, DHL normal dispatch and UPS-standard, both €19. From past experience, should I choose one instead of the other?

I've gotten that a few times. I always select UPS, but it gets sent with DHL anyway.

UPS would deliver to your door if its sent with them, and DHL drop it off with an post who keep it for 3 days :(

Yeah, inside europe use UPS, but outside europe forget it, ridic "VAT Handling Charges"

hmmmm are samsung and m4 are still best value ssd's?

my fecking 500gb hdd becomes annoyingly low on space. only 166gb left...

plan is to get 256gb ssd for my games and keep my 500gb for rubbish, then ofc keep my 60gb corsair as boot drive.! :p

edit: so 179eu for samsung on komplett, but out of stock :(. I know they update firmware on crucials, instead of just releasing new one. what about samsung? do they get proper firmware support too?

Thanks for showing me where to buy a 256GB 830 for a good price :)
Yeah, from what I hear the firmware support on the 830's is excellent.

its a shame its out of stock :( next place to get is dabs, but its 199eu :(. it turns out 200eu from scan ( delivery included )

What are all these frownies? You'd swear that you were being diddled out of a fortune!
It's ~€185 on amazon but it seems to be regularly falling in and out of stock. In stock ATM.

830 and M4s are still the best choices. 830s have the edge in price in Europe, except the 512GB. Some of the should-be-cheaper drives are finally falling in line so there are actually some good deals out there even outside this pair (although these are still the best choice for a desktop with 6Gbp).

I'll wait forgot to come back on komplett so. Not in a rush... Though it is murphies law. When I finally decide to bite the bullet it all goes out of stock...

Btw do saunas come with sata? Or do I get it separate?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,282 ✭✭✭ZeroThreat

Already ordered the 256gb 830 from hwvs along with all my other build stuff last night. Cost me €206 though.
Annoyingly, its not available until 11th of July, so I'll be waiting a while. Unless of course if you're only missing 1 physically small item they just ship the rest of your order, and send the remaining part via post?

Didn't someone post here recently that their order seems to have shipped despite 1 part being out of stock?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,710 ✭✭✭Monotype

The one item out of stock was probably briefly in stock or reallocated after someone cancelled an order.

HWV very rarely, if ever, ship separately. I'd say you'd have to have a month wait time before they'd consider it.

@SH... sauna? Predictive text? SSDs sometimes come with SATA cables. Many come as a bare drive. Read the reviews on the actual product. AFAIK, M4s come with cables and Samsungs will if it's the box or desktop edition but it would be no harm having a spare.

    Looked up TCP view

    C:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe

sent packets 333....sent bytes 159,000...received packets 1,906 received bytes 680,000

    wtf is up ? :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,323 ✭✭✭N64

Did ya try reseting your router?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,710 ✭✭✭Monotype

    What's the question?

Are you asking what svchost is or are you surprised that there's bytes received and sent.
Svchost is related to services that you have running. That's less than a MB sent and received. Not really tremendously significant to be affecting your internet performance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,657 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

sorry I forgot to ask the question lol

my question was is that svchost really effecting my connection but it seems it isnt according to yourself mono, thanks.
