Doubtful, most of their new stuff has been dire. I think that's where the classic Apres Match idea came in.

The voiceover one was good and the Craig Doyle one!

At least the Germans didnt win it and we didnt have to see Merkil jumping up and down, pretending to be a football fan and looking as if she knew what was happening

Unreal isn't he? He's worse than most ignorant fools you'd overhear in the pub. My problem is he gets paid good licence payer's money to spout his ignorance over the airwaves. He can't help trying to be the controversial populist. This doesn't work when you are such a grossly ill-informed fool.
I just sent a complaint into RTE about. It would be nice if they allowed some younger, smarter blood to replace these old fogies. To half quote the fool himself, let's hope they "don't buy into this [anti-Spanish] rubbish".
Eamonn Dunphy just commented that it was interesting that no Spanish players sang their national anthem.

There's no words in the Spanish national anthem......

    Two things to say

    1) Spain were were worthy winners and I was thoroughly impressed with how
    they won it.

    2) Eamon Dunphy should have a listen to the Spanish anthem.

I was in Spain when the semi-finals were on. Portugal gave them a good run for their money - if they had a half decent striker instead of that useless git Almeida , they may even have beaten them. But they didn't & the street parties that night were amazing!

I thought Italy played really well throughout the tournament - having seen them disassemble a really good German team, I thought they'd stand a decent chance against the Spanish, but they were thoroughly outclassed tonight by a far superior team.

The game reminded me of watching a bullfight - two goals left Italy shocked and reeling, like they had been lanced by the Toreros. Then the spectacle began - Spain, the Matadors, playing with the injured Italian bull until it became so weak & defenceless, that it was time to finish them off with the sword. The final blows through the neck & into the heart of the Italians delivered skilfully by Torres & Mata.

So many big finals are a disappointment, but this was a spectacle deserved of the occasion. And fittingly, Ramos finished off the display with a mock waving of a Matador's cape for the assembled press - Spain's first and only sign of showing off, but hey, who can blame him?

A good tournament all round it has to be said, with some great games and for a change, some excellent referreeing. Roll on the World Cup!

Well done Spain. 3 tournaments in a row. Unbelievable. Players with undeniable quality but **** me, I didn't know there was a famine in Spain because these players are hungry STILL. (cheesy line, I know)

I'm going to be boring and give my player of the tourney to a goalie - Iker Casillas. Pirlo was fantastic but didn't perform in the final (not his fault - Spain rule and he's 33)

Either way, the best team won the tournament. The best team i've ever seen apart from Barca.

Two best goalies in the world on show in the final. Those lacking in intelligence will listen to daft UK people saying 25 year old Hart is the best Gk in the world. He's not. He hasn't been doing it nearly as long as Casillas and Buffon - two of the best ever goalies.

    So there you have it.

Things didn't go quite according to plan for Trap and the lads, but shur feck it we got pissed and were voted best fans of the tournament.

Ingerland managed to get through the group despite 27 players dropping out through injury, but fell to their mortal enemy, the penalty shootout.

Holland decided to do what Holland do best, ie nothing at all, despite being one of the favourites.

Germany played some great football, but Merkel and the lads were put to the sword by Mario in the semis.

France were sh1te, again. Karmas a bitch ain't it Terry Henry?

Ronaldo decided he would take the decisive penalty in the shootout with Spain and be declared king of Portugal. Rumour has it that he's still standing there looking at images of himself on the big screen.

Italy didn't give a sh1t about the economy or the allegations of corruption in Serie A, and strolled to the final thanks to Pirlo.

    Spain won, again.

    Rest in peace James Nolan.

See you all in two years time for the World Cup.
