If I build a Gaming Desktop can I use my TV as a monitor?

Like have my desktop beside my Sony Bravia and use my TV for the monitor?

And would I need anything specifically to do this (when I am building, any requirements etc.)?

Yes you can. Modern GFX cards have a HDMI output on them so if you have a free HDMI port on your tv you're set to go.

run a vga cable and a 3.5 mm audio lead up to the tele. (of course your tv would have to have these outputs)

in the stone age maybe most new tv's and laptops/PC's will have HDMI use that one cable video audio best way to go...

I'm not disputing that served me well fir years but hdmi is simply better no need for Audio cables and better quality..

That's without KB+M. You didn't mention whether or not you needed Windows so I left it out. It's a German website called Hardwareversand, they only take bank transfer or PayPal at an extra 3%. The keyboards from there are in German layout, so get one from a local retailer. That system isn't assembled BTW, so if you want it built throw this in.

EDIT: Actually, the one you mentioned is good. Whoever did that was a legend.

lol yeah, the build I quoted I saw in another thread and thought it was good.

I think someone I know has a copy of Windows so you can leave that out.

Would you go for the better graphics card over the stringer processor?

Better graphics card, normally. As long as you have a relatively stong CPU (i5 3450 is great) your GPU will be holding you back.

Would you not be better going for the 3750k with z77 or even 2500k with z68 ..give the option to overclock may get more benifit especially in the future

I wouldn't really see the point as he didn't ask for an OC build. I'd imagine a 7870*3450 combo to beat a 7850*3570k any day in games.

Yeah, but with the savings from not getting an Oc'able setup would mean you could put it towards a better GPU.

Z77 mobo (pro3)=85

I just have one more question.

The plug cable for the power that shipped with the PC is german so it would need an adapter to work here. But I have a power cord that looks the same from my old PC, will that work or does it have to be a specific voltage?

Most people just use a plug from an old kettle so it should be fine. Voltage is the same it's, I think, 230 volts from Irish/UK sockets and most of Europe. The PSU will convert it to whatever power you need so no need to worry about it.
