Go to a live game here. Pats v Rovers tonight.

I am playing football tonight! Plus, until I had to move to Dublin years ago for work reasons I supported my hometown LOI team (didn't miss a home game for 7 seasons and plenty of away trips too) so no way am I gonna pay to watch two teams I considered rivals to my team.

The rivalry between the two Iberian countries is immense with Spain being the big powerful neighbour and forever looking down on its former colony, Does this sound familiar :P Wonder how the fans are getting along ? ole ole

Come on posters back to the soccer

The fact that you acknowledge that the rivalry between Spain and Portugal is immense must surely mean that it can't be reminding you of the relationship between Ireland and England? ;)

I'd love to see someone other than Spain in this final, as long as it isn't Portugal. Therefore, I will be very much hoping for a Spanish win and in truth I can't see any other result. Spain should dominate the ball as per usual and I can't see Portugal being able to play their normal counter attacking game. Spain are just so good at flooding back and crowding out any break away, completely snuffing out danger.

Why are people hostile to Spain. I wudda thought they would be the purist choice to win.

People get bored of the same team winning all the time, we like to see new Champions coming thru and then we get bored of them :P

Portugal was never a colony of Spain. Your taking our history and relations with Britain and applying it to their's.

Spain will win 2-1. Portugal are incapable of being clinical in the last third without Ronaldo and he has to have the ball to do anything with it. The game will probably open up a bit near the end with Portugal mainly counter attacking. If Portugal sit back they'll lose, which they will.

Boredom I would say. And I would also say that there is no such thing as a 'purist' in soccer as there is no real 'pure' way of playing the game.
Give me flair and excitement anyday over possession (until somebody makes a mistake or wanders out of position) football . Gets the job done but boring as f**k to watch.

Ronaldo is going to have to do a lot defensively in this one, if like we all expect Spain dominate possession. Reckon he will be up for it?

If you don't mind me asking realies how much do you stand to win if Portugal win it outright. :pac:

As much as i like Gomez, I think Germany should go with Klose again just for his movement. I'd imagine Ozil prefers him in the team as he's so much easier to link with.

I see Spain being to good for Portugal tomorrow night. It could be a frustrating night for Ronaldo not getting much of the ball. He needs to perform if Portugal cause a surprise.

I had Klose in my fantasy football team before the tournament because despite his age I couldn't see Gomez getting the nod ahead of him, saying that Gomez finishing has been top notch so far.

While Gomex might carry a better goal threat (buts thats literally all he does - a pure box-only player), Klose suits the team better as he's more mobile and contributes to the team's general play more.

If it was me I'd start Klose and if a goal is needed spring Gomez from the bench.

Hoping for a German win I've a few Europes riding on them winning it outright.

Anyone have a sneaky bet on tonight's game, find it very hard to call (even for a first goalscorer bet) so I'm keeping my wallet closed.

You'd expect Spain to win but I am loathe to bet against any team with a goal machine like Ronaldo in it!

Hope Portugal win tonight, I've a massive horn for Ronaldo and all his antics not to mention the fact that Spain bore me to death. They try to beat you with death by a thousand cuts. Horrible to watch.

Spain to win and to win well.

They're going to be playing for the memory of Miki Roque who died during the week at the age of 23 after a battle with cancer.

I don't know who that is, but 'cancer' and '23' should never appear in the same sentence. Ugh.

Surely it's only Germany that can stop Spain now? If I was a betting man ...

Tragic alright, 23 is a ridiculous age to die. He was a youth player with Liverpool up to a couple of years ago.

I can't see past a Spain, Germany final, although I'd love to see Portugal do it.
