Citytv Greenlights Two New Original Comedy Series, Package Deal and Seed
Two 13-episode comedy series slated to debut mid-season on Citytv Homegrown series to be produced by Vancouver-based Thunderbird Films and Force Four Entertainment In its continuing support of Canadian productions, Citytv announced today it has greenlit two new original comedy series – Package Deal and Seed. Commissioned by Citytv’s original content team and produced by Thunderbird Films and Force Four Entertainment, respectively, the two series are slated to launch exclusively on Citytv in mid-season.
The announcement was made today as part of Citytv’s annual Upfront presentation. Additional production and broadcast details will be announced at a later date.
    Package Deal:

When Kim starts dating Danny, he seems too good to be true – a successful lawyer, charming, and single. Then she discovers he’s already committed – to his two older brothers, Sheldon and Ryan. Will Danny ever grow up and be his own man? Or will Kim have to accept that his brothers are part of the ‘package deal’?
    Seed:
From Force Four Entertainment, the producers of the upcoming Citytv original reality series The Bachelor Canada, and creator Joseph Raso, Seed is a 13-episode, half-hour series that offers a fresh take on the family comedy. Lifetime developing "Clarice" tv series: http://screenrant.com/lifetime-clarice-tv-show-silence-lambs-sandy-174896/

Bryan Fuller’s Hannibal TV series will premiere on NBC in the foreseeable future. However, Lifetime has already begun development on another television show that will be centered around a famous character from Thomas Harris’ literature: FBI agent Clarice Starling.

    CTV orders "Motive" to series:

CTV Orders Enthralling New Original Drama Series MOTIVE – From Vancouver-based Foundation Features and Lark Productions – – Daniel Cerone (THE MENTALIST, DEXTER) executive produces – Toronto, ON (May 31, 2012) – It’s not a question of who did it, it’s a question of how and why. CTV announced today that it has ordered the procedural drama series MOTIVE (working title) from award-winning, Vancouver-based Foundation Features and Lark Productions. Thirteen episodes of the one-hour drama have been ordered. MOTIVE follows a feisty female Vancouver homicide detective who matches wits with killers in a dangerous cat-and-mouse game. As she pieces together the clues of the murder, viewers are drawn inside the minds of the culprits. Daniel Cerone (THE MENTALIST, DEXTER) executive produces.
MOTIVE is developed for television by award winning producer Rob Merilees (Sleepwalking, Stone of Destiny), Rob LaBelle (MENTAL), Lindsay Macadam (The Entitled, Personal Effects), Emmy®-nominated producer Louise Clark (CORNER GAS, WHISTLER, THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF VANCOUVER ), and Erin Haskett (THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF VANCOUVER).
“With a distinctive voice and fresh take on the procedural drama, MOTIVE is unlike anything on television,” said Phil King, President, CTV Programming and Sports. “MOTIVE is the first of several innovative projects joining Bell Media’s original production slate in 2012/2013.”
“We are very excited by this opportunity for Foundation and Lark to work together with great writing talent and to add another original production to CTV's winning schedule,” said Executive Producers Rob Merilees and Louise Clark.
MOTIVE is an unconventional way to watch a crime unfold. Each episode begins by revealing not only the victim, but the killer as well. The homicide detective then begins to piece together clues. How did they do it? How are the victim and killer connected? What’s the motive? As the mystery unfolds, the audience navigates the twisted and complicated maze of each murder and solves the puzzle alongside the detective and her team.
MOTIVE is produced by Foundation Features and Lark Productions in association with Bell Media. Executive producers are Daniel Cerone, Louise Clark, Rob Merilees, Erin Haskett, Rob LaBelle, Lindsay Macadam, and James Thorpe (Lost Girl). Showrunner is James Thorpe. Daniel Cerone wrote the pilot. Trish Williams is Director, Independent Production, Bell Media. Corrie Coe is Senior Vice-President, Independent Production, Bell Media. Mike Cosentino is Senior Vice-President, Programming, CTV Networks. Phil King is President, CTV Programming and Sports.

NBC orders Secret Lives pilot: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/jerry-bruckheimer-nbc-pilot-337046

NBC has greenlit its first pilot for the next season, giving the go-ahead to a soapy thriller from Jerry Bruckheimer.

Based on Josie Brown's book The Secret Lives of Husbands and Wives, Bruckheimer will executive produce the project under his deal with Warner Bros. Television. Sascha Penn will adapt the material and exec produce alongside Bruckheimer Television's Jonathan Littman; KristieAnne Reed will co-exec produce. The project was originally in development at ABC.

Secret Lives is described as equal parts thriller and dramatic soap that is centered on a murder and the secrets exposed in its aftermath. The project comes after Bruckheimer's drama pilot Trooper, starring Mira Sorvino, was passed over this pilot season at CBS.

So NBC saw how well ABC's revenge was doing and thought, 'Hey, I'll have some of that'. Have to say that Revenge was great in that it was a return to good soap opera. I don't fancy being deluged in Soaps this year though.

if you'd added '...and is retiring from stand up, writing and all future television appearances' that announcement would have been epic!

That would be very interesting... I'm a strong critic of the show, but I like to see shows with strong casts and good premises given a chance to succeed - sometimes that means 3 seasons to get the story told.

In fairness to FS, it looked at it's report card last year with lots of E's and F's and 'Must Try Harder' comments and took it to heart. They're scoring C's and D's with me this year so far so it's a definite improvement. Unless they royally screw up now, Season 3 mightn't be the worst prospect really.
