(Flexible) Flights from New Zealand at Christmas

I have read the useful websites sticky, but just would like a few tips! I am trying to find flights for a friend to fly from Wellington to Dublin at Christmas, and return again about 3 weeks later. He has no fixed dates in mind, he can organise his holidays from work once he has the flights booked. Are there any websites…

Are there any websites that'll compare a large range of dates and find the cheapest? I know skyscanner.net does this but when I put it in Wellington to Dublin for December 2012 it asks me for specific dates.

Is it better to book sooner or later, in general? I imagine the earlier the better!

Try ITA Matrix and select 'calendar of lowest fares'

best to book early though - Xmas is peak time.
