The weather is shocking for Friday with 24mm of rain predicted, however it's meant to be dry from midnight till 1pm tomorrow. So the first innings should go through, although from 1pm-6pm they're predicting light showers.

Can they play with several light showers?, hopefully we can get the game going ahead fully...

Maybe They'll show Ireland V England WC 2011 if there is a rain break!

If conditions permit a start of some sort, Duckworth-Lewis will kick in and allow the game to be shortened.

Cricket Ireland status update on FB as of bout an hour ago

"Weather is not looking fantastic here unfortunately but we still hold out hope of play. Ticket refund policy - full refund if less than 10 overs bowled as well. Pitch and square fully covered and with the significant investment in equipment and drainage that has been made in recent years we could still see cricket tomorrow."

Photos on Facebook do not look good - pools on the outfield you could swim in.

    Pitch passes 6.30am inspection

Following a comprehensive pitch inspection this morning of the full playing fields at Stormont, the ground has drained well overnight and the ground authorities are still hopeful of play.

The pitch has taken an extreme amount of water over the past 48 hours however and further rain would mean the match organising committee would have to re-visit the current position.

Hope all in attendance today get to see some good cricket. Sky Sports 1 for the rest of us

yeah looks like we will see a near full 1st session, and then its question of whether we see a bloody chase, pity in cricket that when rain is forecast like this we cant shortern the 1st session in advance, giving more chance of a chase and no need for DWL.

Saying that the concern is outer area of the field moreso than the pitch, players slipping etc. Also saying a lot of it will be down to how much Michael Clarke wants the Aussies out there.

Yeah I'm not hopeful, considering just packing it in and heading back to Dublin! Not looking good really judging by whats being said on sky
