Converting rar files to pdf?

Hey guys I'm having crazy trouble with rar files at the mo and badly in need of help! I scanned a couple of documents in an internet café and they were saved as .rar files. I sent them on to someone else but they can't open them and can't print them and asked me to convert them to pdf or word.

So I downloaded winzip and then winrar and extracted the files but I have no idea what to do now. I also downloaded cutepdf as it is supposed to allow you to create files from scratch and I was hoping I could put my scanned pages together in one file.

Does anyone know how I can do this?
Currently I have two scanned folders that I think I have extracted and they have individual scanned pages within, scan1, scan2 .. and so on.

When you open the files can you see the pdf inside the archive?

Also try renaming the .rar to .pdf.

A rar file is like a zip file; you will need to extract its contents using Winzip first.

If you want to convert whatever is in the rar file to pdf open it and print to the CutePDF printer. This will open a dialog box and ask you where you want to save the PDF.

Yep I have extracted the files but being honest I don't really understand what that actually does in technical terms! I downloaded Winrar and extracted the files. I have them in a new folder, but what now? I don't know how to print to cute pdf

when I open them now the pdf icon is beside all of them. does that mean I've successfully extracted them?

Right click on the file itself and select "extract to" Then type in, or point to a folder where you want to extract/save it to. You haven't extracted them yet..

I did that already though. I r clicked, chose 'select all' and then 'extract to folder', clicked on extract and replace, clicked on ok when dialog box came up.

So go to the folder where you extracted them and work as normal, you can forget about the .rar file now.

Sadly that won't work. I emailed the folder to myself and when I went to open it it asked me what format to open in, and there wasn't any option for pdf, so I chose word and the text is that funny symbols text!

    I am HOPELESS at computers!

    It says pdf document.pdf
Opens with free pdf tablet reader (one I downloaded ages ago)

There are 7 of these files contained within a folder.

Should it work on someone else's computer?

Okay I suggest you download this instead first:

Make sure you untick the install McAfee thing.

    http://get.adobe.com/reader/

Once that is installed try and open the file again.

sorry guys, I have two of these folders. The other one that I couldn't open was a different one.

For this one my problem is that I have 7 scanned files within the folder and I don't want to send them individually as it would look very messy.

Is there a way to get them together in pdf on cutepdf?

    You are confusing things now.

If you wanted to send them all as a group you should just send the original RAR file, that is basically its purpose to group multiple files into one.

    Downloading adobe now fionny.
Did you see my message about it being the other folder and files that wouldn't open for me? I'll leave that to one side for now and stay with the 7 files one if that's ok.
so you know how i can get them into one pdf file instead of 7 separate files?

That was my original plan! But they said they couldn't open or print them! don't think they had the winzip software.

Hm would they be able to print them though even if they could open them? they said they wouldn;t be able to print them if they were .rar files.
