    Cancer.

Cancer isn't really a "disease", there are numerous diseases that come under this heading. And some of them really aren't all that bad, at all.

I think that Alzheimer's is the worst in terms of the pain that it inflicts on loved ones. I've never had a family member or friend suffer Alzheimer's, but it's not something I'd ever wish on my worst enemy.

For actual pain - I'd guess that anything involving bones is the worst. Leukemia, multiple myeloma, etc. Less pain relief available.

I'll never be able to describe the absolute horror and dread I felt when I thought I had it. I really feel for any poor soul that gets it.

Multiple sclerosis. My auntie had it and was heartbreaking to see. It's nearly the same as locked in syndrome in the end.

    Ah answer...........shyness

Why did they think you had it?

    Shyness is curable by alcoholism.

It's a death sentence. No cure just wait and get worse and worse. Euthanasia should be legalised for stuff like that.

Because I've something with similarish symptoms but not fatal. Long story. :)

Motor Neuron, Alzheimers and although someone said it wasn't a disease, cancer.
Have seen people around me die from these 3 things and they were horrendous deaths.

Huntingtons disease. If your parents have it theres a 50/50 chance that you will have it. Its basically a death sentence.

You can only get if one of your parents suffers from it, is that correct?

Is alcoholism hereditary? I'll get myself checked if it is. It's good to know before any symptoms start to show

Yeah I know of it. Its very unlike all the other ones mentioned on here, with motor neuron and locked in...anyone can suffer from them, but Huntington's is quiet rare in comparison

    Locked in syndrome?
There is a case before the high court over here of a guy looking to get permission for a doctor to do an assisted suicide on him.
I don't know how anybody could live like that, just sitting there only able to move your eyes. :(

:( This is depressing, so many awful illnesses.
