I've done a fair bit of reading lately. Started with the Steve Jobs Biography (Loved it!!) and now I'm going onto 'Fifty Shades of Grey' (I'm really excited to read this!) and then I'm going onto a book called 'Sex, Lies and Politics' (recommend by a friend). If the Fifty Shades book goes well, I'll continue with the series. Anyone read any of them yet?

I've read the whole Shades trilogy and I enjoyed it the main thing is the sex scenes are often hugely relevant to the story but most of the time I didn't think they were great.some very cringey writing though but I like the actual story.

just finished pillars of the earth by ken follett. brilliant read would recommend it.

i'm sure cawcheen can attest to just how obsessed i became with it. :P

Reading The Help and no book has made me cry as much - the film isn't bad either! Hoping to start on One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest when I'm done. I tried to get into it last year, but I don't think I was mature enough at the time to handle such heavy material

Finished The Help about a month ago and it is a seriously epic book. I only read it because we watched like 15 mins of the film in a French class (why I have no idea what-so-ever) before Christmas and even from those few minutes I just had a feeling it would be awesome! And it seriously was.

Just finished The Slap which was fairly good. There were a fair few affairs going on and I was confused as hell for the first chapter or two because there were a good few characters and I just couldn't remember who was married to who or related to who and having a affair with someone else or getting drugs from another person.....I think I figured it out though eventually.

Next up on my reading list is Dead Europe (by the same fella that wrote The Slap). I had it since my birthday but I've only just worked my way through my pile of books to it now. I just hope there aren't any extra-marital goings-on in this one, I think I've had my fair share for now I think......

And when that's finished I've no more new books left so it'll bee back to the auld reliables and the books that I haven't read in aaaaages starting with the His Dark Materials trilogy. I remember reading Northern Lights when I was in 1st year when I was 12/13 for a book review. I had serious love for those books even though I knew there was so much stuff that I didn't understand at the time. I'm neraly getting excited about reading them again just at the thoughts of it already.....

Anyway, I got a Kindle. I think anyone who's struggling to make themselves read should get one, I was awful there for a while but that's all changed now. In the last two days I have read The Perks of Being A Wallflower (didn't think much of it while I was reading it but when I finished it I thought 'wow, that was great') and Of Mice And Men (only took an hour and a half, yay for short books giving me a false sense of achievement...but yeah, good read, saw the ending coming a mile off but it still made me feel sad ). Also kinda reading Imperium by Robert Harris but I'm just kinda going over and back between other books. And I'm reading The Diary of Anne Frank (how have I not read this before?) and I might get a start on finally re-reading His Dark Materials myself (which seems to be a popular choice) tomorrow. Much love for copious amounts of great books at ehh bargain prices! :pac:

I decided to give dystopian books a break for a while.

The last few I've read are kitchen confidential by anthony bourdain which was quite a good read, it gives good insights into the life a chef, if somewhat exaggerated in parts. I enjoyed it anyway. Then I read "My Life in France" which was basically about how Julia Child became Julia Child, I found it really interesting.

At the moment I'm reading The Diary of Anne Frank after all the talk about it here I decided it was time to re-read it, I haven't read it since first year in school. I downloaded a good few books on my kindle a while ago so have quite a bit of reading to do, the line up at the moment is to re-read his dark materials, I haven't read them since I was a kid. Then I've The Great Gatsby, Animal Farm and A Clockwork Orange, haven't read any of them before so I'm looking forward to it!
