    Disagree OP. I would say that would have to go to the Roman Catholic Priests who are famous the world over for buggering children and destroying young lives and then getting the Pope to cover it up.

    Anyone that easily swayed by a celebrities antics probably needs to remind themselves to breath in & out.
    Big deal she has a past & she exploited it to make millions. Somehow I think she's not too bothered about people putting her down.
    Gorgeous looking woman, wears a bit too much make up though.

    There's plenty of talentless women that make a living from their looks. I don't have much of a problem with that - its the stupid reality TV shows like Big Brother, and more recently in Ireland, Tallafornia and Dublin Housewives that I don't like. There's nothing wrong with been a model, but a model that uses a TV show like one of these to further her career is sad.

    Exactly, being a genuine working model (ie. working for renowned designers or scoring large campaigns) is hard work. I wouldn't put Kim K into this category.

    Why is it sad? All she does is earn a living by selling a product (herself) to people who are into that sort of thing. No different from people who buy OK magazine to find out the latest gossip or go on websites like Mr Paparazzi which gives that site hits and money which just feeds the system.

    She isn't the first and won't be the last.

    I think its unfair to soley blame one person aka kim kardashian,i think with regards to lack of values and placing only value in monetary and materialistic terms it is pretty bad,in their life its all about what you have and who you can name drop so from that point of view it is bad..
    but thats reality tv today,its all about feathering your nest with as much as you can get..

    Personally I think she is gorgeous but her life is not one I would want my children to aspire to. She got famous from being in a home porno with rapper Ray J. Not a role model.

    In today's western society, we have a very low context culture, where everything is stated explicitly and frankly I dislike where western culture and todays youth are headed.

    Also, it is noticeable that children in higher context cultures (India for example) aspire to become teachers and doctors, and children in western culture all want to be models and tv personalities etc

    Ill be honest western culture is dead as far as im concerned it should be back to basics,kids in my youth even got away with everything,its all about what you can get,instant gratification,and value is put in the wrong direction its all about how to get rich,and not about family value anymore,for instance you can walk into any family home now and see everyone with a tv in their own room,on their own on the internet or whatever,with their ipod and their other yokes iphone or whatever..
    nobody is keeping an eye on what anybody is up to anymore its all very different now..even when i was a kid in the 90's it was all about calling to your neighbour now you mighnt see them for weeks and you always have to email or ring or something,no knocking on the door out of the blue..well i still do that but anyway you get my drift

    Exactly, its setting a bad example. Some young girls aspire to this rather than getting a proper education and focusing on real talents.

    I don't know why she singled out Kim Kardashian to be the poster girl for the issue of women's appearance being promoted as more important than achievement; it's not as if there's a shortage of vacuous women relying on their bodies to get them noticed and to make money.

    I don't know much about her, except that she married some chap to boost the ratings of her show, apparently, and the marriage lasted no time at all.

    The lovely Daniel Craig didn't hold back when slagging her off recently:

    “‘Ooh I want to be alone.’ F*** you! We’ve been in your living room. We were at your birth. You filmed it for us and showed us the placenta and now you want some privacy? They’re worth millions. I don’t think they were that badly off to begin with but now look at them.     All I know about the Kardashians is from the occasional story on news websites. When I first heard the name, I thought it was something to do with the Cardassians from Star Trek. The family has money thanks to her dad's job as a lawyer who made his name successfully defending O.J. Simpson in his murder trial. There's just ... nothing there. A non-person in any sense that might get my brain in gear.

    If Kim Kardashian is an airhead, what does that make those who support her?

    Mind you, the very same people support things like Geordie/Jersey Shore, The Real Housewives, etc, etc,etc.

    It seems to be predominantly women who are fueling the support for these genres. Why the hell is that?

    I admit to watching the reality tv show....ONCE,it was mostly crap,all name dropping and who owns what and who can buy what for such and such amount of money it was ridiculous,thats all the reality show seemed to be about,it doesnt seem like they live in reality..I mean she married a guy she didnt even know very well for a whole of 72 days what does that tell ya..

    It's easy to avoid anything to do with Kim Kardashian and live a happy life. Stop looking at trashy websites, tabloid newspapers, TV3 celebrity news and MTV and you probably will never have heard of her.

    Real housewives,(they should call it unreal housewives)yes i admit to watching that once too,didnt continue it on so dont know the full stories,saw the dublin one,and it was atrocious from start to finish all trying to wind things up for the viewers pathetic,could see through it a mile off ,sure there only trying to feather their own nests flog a book or stick their name to a perfume - that sums it up for me.

    Kim was by far the prettiest, she was a stunning girl until she absolutely ruined herself lately with cometic surgery and botox. You can tell Kourtney hasnt done anything to her face near the amount Kim has.

    If you look up young Kim Kardashian she was an absolute stunning girl.

    Kim Kardashian gives credence to the phrase ' life is not fair' but she has managed to get very far in the public domain with little talent (unless you view having a gigantic ass as talent)

    Im reminded of the late great Christopher Hitchens' verbal assualt on George W Bush whenever people like Kim K, Snooki, Peter Andre are brought up :

    'He is unusually incurious, abnormally unintelligent, amazingly inarticulate, fantastically uncultured, extraordinarily uneducated, and apparently quite proud of all these things.'

    i think kourtney is prettier than any of them the youngest one khloe,has the head of an orc,the kim one looks like she has a micheal jackson nose and some serious trout pout going on..

    but,i think ill skip looking up the pics,its reality shows like these that turn us into sheep spectators and i dont want to be part of that crowd,i hate all this reality crap,anytime people have conversations its what they talk about,instead of real life issues,or what they did today etc,or what they think on this subject or that,i think it takes away from your lifestyle by watching these programmes..
