I was in Australia earlier this year for 5 weeks and have become quite nostalgic about it already.

I was in Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Byron Bay, Canberra and Sydney.

I loved it and thought it was awesome and wouldn't mind going back again sometime.

Out of all the cities in Australia which one you say was the best? Perhaps the "best" for you could define the best to bring up children/family, best for partying etc. But in general what was your favourite Australian city?

To be honest, I haven't got one, but I did like Melbourne. :D

Rename "Syndey" to "The city of Irish bricklayers" to be more accurate.

Just wondering, what other places in the World have you been to?

    adelaide - too small
    perth - never been
melbourne - great city but gets cold in winter, sports mad people, but no beaches close by, good night life if you can find your way around
canbera - less said about it the better
brisbane - nice but small enough, not great night life apart from fortitude valley
sydney - city centre isnt great but has everything close by, beaches scenery loads of tourist places to visit for the day, loads of diff areas with good night life.

    sydney for me !!!

No one vote for Perth, might help slow down its transition to the new mini-Ireland.

It's in the middle of nowhere :D

I like the whole south west part, around Margaret River. That would get my vote, then the areas around Adelaide, Barossa Valley is nice.

    Surprised Perth is leading :P

Lovely city, though its about 1/4 the size of Dublin , could walk from one end to another fairly quickly

If you are under 30, Sydney is the place for you.

If you are over 30 Melbourne (Melbin) is the place for you.

Perth is crap imho but please, drunk paddys, continue to base yourself there...

I loved Sydney when I lived there...I worked near the harbour though, so everyday I had an amazing view of Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House

Surprised Perth is leading the poll. Must be there are alot of boardsies there.

Never been to Oz myself but by all accounts from people who have gone Melbourne is the best city.

Aren't Yabbie Creek and Summer bay both in Home & Away? And Alf 'flamin' Stewart is in H&A.

I was at palm beach outside sydney where H&A is filmed. The surf club from the show is actually there and is a real surf club for the local area. Its a beautiful area, would love to live there or nearby.

    My vote is for Sydney.

Didn't like Melbourne felt too much like home for me, just seemed grey.

Loved Sydney lived in Bondi, didnt meet many Irish there had great time.

Sydney has the largest airport with the most departing international flights, so I'll go with Sydney.

I spent four months in Perth in 2000 and only met a handful of Irish people while I was there. I lived on Marine Parade in Cottesloe and loved every minute of my time in Perth. Seems to be a different place now though.

Melbourne for me, more so St. Kilda than the city centre.

Perth is a kip. The whole city looks like Dorset Street

Sydney is a nice city but lacks character apart from around the opera house
