    Any fans here?

Been a fan of Zooey Deschanel as an actress for some time now, but just starting to get into her music now.

Volume Two is a great Indie-Pop album IMO.

I liked Volume One the first time I heard it but that wore off pretty quick. Don't get me wrong I love Zooey but their music doesn't seem to hold up well to repeated listens.

They also so desperately want to be Camera Obscura, who I recommend if you want something more rewarding.

    Are they Indie or Alternative?

    I would say neither.

They are ****. So they're neither.

I'd say you'd struggle to find them mentioned without the use of the word indie or alternative.

Indie Pop? Alternative Country? Indie Folk?

I like 'em anyway. Had the pleasure of seeing them live and was mightily impressed with Zooeys' voice.

    I would say neither.

Sure their albums were released under Merge records which is an independent label. The actual definition of indie is "indie-pendent", as in released by underground acts not on major labels.

I don't know where they stand within Alternative music circles however, the only good definition I can think of for "Alternative" is non-mainstream music but their second album went to #1 in the US Rock and Folk charts. You couldn't say they are Alternative there either, because that would make no sense to say a band is one genre on one side of the Atlantic and another genre on the other.

Lucky S.M.B., I'd like to see them live.

It also went to number 1 in the US Alternative chart! :)

I love their second album, haven't gotten tired of it after, like, hundreds of plays.

I can take or leave the first one, I really like Stay Here, a lot more slowish country tinged songs. There's some good stuff on it alright but doesn't flow as well. Volume Two is awesome though. I should probably listen to some solo Ward stuff.
