Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi folks,
This is my 1st post on boards.ie! I have recently bought a 02 w210 E320 CDI and I can smell a sweet tar smell and get stinging eyes when driving it. I have been told that this is caused by the "black death", the build up of carbon around leaking injectors. I have removed the engine covers and sure enough there is a black tar like supstance around the injectors. I want to get this repair but am not willing to pay dealer prices, does anyone know a good independent Mercedes mechanic in the sligo or connaught area that would be competent in repair this, I know it can be tricky so I dont want to let any old fool to give a go.

Your help and advice would be most greatfully excepted

Any diesel injection specialist should be able to sort that out for you.

One for the main motors forum methinks, not DIY.

This can be a fairly time consuming repair depending on how bad the build up is so it won't especially cheap either way.

There's a merc specialist in Castlebar, out beside Halfords (name escapes me now)

Look for Eddie Ronayne, based in Cloonfad. Not cheap, but very good.
