Flying Dog Kujo. It's only the second coffee stout ive had, the other was Dungarvan. Dungarvan was way nicer.

Taking advantage of having access to Dogfish Head so having a 90 minute Imperial IPA.

    No need for words.

Never had Dungarvan but I am a huge fan of Kujo so I may go out and get one.

I think it was seasonal. It was coffee and oatmeal stout. One of the best stouts I've had.

It's possible I may find a bottle somewhere, I will look out for one and grab one if I can.

I felt the other way in regards to those two beers KJ, thought Kujo was up there with Nogne. Although it is nice to see an Irish brewery make a pretty great beer that is better than a lot of stouts I've tried.

Quick question on Sink the Bismarck KJ, once you open the bottle does it last (eg: for a month or two) ? Or is it something that really has to be drunk once open(and of course split amongst a group of friends).

Decided to crack open Brewfist "Fear", a milk chocolate stout. This is the 3rd beer of theirs i've tried, and all have been disappointing.

Southern Tier IPA - 4 malts and 4 hops but taste is more malty than anything.

Slightly hoppy and hint of Citrus it's ok. After having a Dogfish it's very weak in comparison.

I would imagine it would keep if you seal it back up, it's has an alcohol volume of a spirit so you could treat it as one.

Also all Brewfist beers are crap.

Yeah it comes with a bottle stopper. Mine was open for almost 2 weeks and still tasted fine at the end.

I had a bottle of Magic Hat #9 in an airport in the US a year or two back and really enjoyed it, so was delighted to see a six pack for €10 in my local off-license. Clearly absence (and jetlag) makes the heart grow fonder, as I couldn't enjoy this at all, this time around. Very fruity and sweet, but may have been soured a little by the footie. But good to see the off-license expanding it's range of beers.

Agreed on the Magic Hat #9. I had a bottle at the weekend and thought it was quite heavy and uninspired. I'm not opposed to the concept of fruit beers but I didn't think this one worked at all.

For the past few months (maybe 4 months, idk) I haven't had any of the usual, mass-produced lagers. The closest I've had during that time is Kronenbourg (which is really a good lager imo. Teensy bit "skunky", I don't care, I like the flavour and the aroma.). Aside from that it's been all good ales and weissbiers etc.

Some family are down for a few days, so my mother bought some Heineken.................I had no idea it was this pissy when I first tried it! ****ing hell like, it's amazing when you become used to only drinking good beer, how much a macro will stand out.

    Thwaites Very Nutty Black

Yet another failed attempt by me to get into ale. For an alleged very nutty ale I actually found it quite bland

Not bad but I won't be buying any more

I didn't like Very Nutty Black at all! It was just too meh.

Tonight's haul unfortunately did not have enough alcohol in them to numb the pain of that footy performance but anyhow:

    - Harviestoun schiehallion lager x1. Not as nice as bitter & twisted (and I'm not an ale man) but a solid beer. I'd love to try it on draught. Only time I've seen it has been in Edinburgh airport when there was a car waiting to be driven after my flight so couldn't sample!
    - Whitewater Belfast lager x2. Ah nettles! a nice beer albeit pricey. Mine weren't cold enough, I really must almost freeze a few before I have it again
    - Jever pilsner x1. Meh, it's ok. More "harder" tasting than most pilsners I've had in Germany (almost budvar like). Not a keeper really.

So far I'm on my own stuff on tap. Vienna pale al at the moment but I might dip in to some bottled stuff later.

Oh and KJ, I was at Tom Petty too. Awesome gig.

A litre of The Captain tonight and six cans of Karpackie.

Friend home from the states for the weekend.

    To the victor, the spoils.

A pint of Challenger followed by Metalman. I missed all the Irish beers.

I was lead to believe this was great, but I got nothing off it at all. Could barely taste it.

I thought it was nice, and I normally prefer the big flavours. There's nothing wrong with a subtle beer every so often.

I like subtle ocasionally too, but this didn't have a nice enough flavour to back it up. I prefer their Fursty Ferret.

I hated fursty ferret, it tasted of nothing with nothing on the end, no noticeable hops and besides a very basic "sweetness" nothing else at all.

Won't be rushing out to try any other badger beers any time soon.

That said, was in tesco picking up a few bits for the dinner and they were fulled stocked up today so picked up 4 Goose Island IPA, was going to buy 5 Clothworthy Dobbin aswell bu restrained myself and I don't think I have the will power to not drink the lot in one evening!
