After the video with the drifting car crash/arm dismemberment was posted (since removed) I googled was it possible to reattach limbs and found this link. It has the same story of the 2 guys in Taiwan, but it says their arms were sliced off by the rebounding force of the broken rope.

its been parodied to death at this stage, the original was shocking for its time though, hell even the trailer (which was banned for being too scary) is better than most horror movies these days. (watch with sound up for best effect)
