I took a trip to McHugh's on the Malahide Road to get some Kinnegar but they didn't have any at all, so I drove to the one in Kilbarrack and got these:

Then I noticed on top of the fridge, a few bottles of random stuff including 1 bottle of this gem. Bottled in 2009.

I know, was delighted with myself. I thought it was just gonna be for display so I had to ask.

How much was it if you don't mind me asking? I assume more than most?

That's actually a good price, expected something like 15 quid since DH are so rare in Ireland. Good buy, how was it?

I was at Tom Petty last night so didn't get to try it. I will be opening it tonight.

I wasn't a big fan when I could buy it in Holland's for €3.50, so I doubt it has improved greatly by virtue of its increased price or reduced availability. But that's just my take. I found it a little too sweet and cloying, but other's mileage may vary.

Just finished a bottle of Odells IPA, v nice has the slight spicy taste of Goose Island but a bit of a smoother finish me thinks

I have some 8 Degrees Howling Gale Ale chilling in the fridge, I picked up some Shipyard IPA and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale as well. All from Tesco, much as I'd rather be buying it from an actual off-licence the deal is just to hard to resist.

Opened up my Dungarvan Commeragh Challenger and couldn't drink it, very vegetal and unpleasant to a point I thought it wasn't right, I'll definatly try another because dungarvan make great beers, maybe some teething issues with the new recipe?

Opened up the Kinneger Limeburner and I'm also disappointed, no fizz whatsoever, light straw colour and no head. It's Lemony and fairly subtle, drinkable but it needs a little more fizz.

I bought 2 of the Challenger today. I hope I like them better than you did. I also had a Kinnegar Limeburner today and was disappointed by it. Was pretty standard. Nothing special.
Currently drinking the Dogfish Head I found and it's really nice. After this, I'm finishing off the bottle of Sink The Bismarck.

Just enjoying a St Austell's Smugglers Vintage Ale as I post. It is an Old Ale - aged barley-wine and English dark ale.

So far I am quite impressed, it's a rather sweet concoction; syrupy/honeyed, with caramel on the nose, sticky toffee, figs, some forest fruits, alcoholic cola, brown sugar to taste, along with a nice bitter element as it finishes.

I'm finding it to have good drink-ability.

I mixed them up it was the limeburner I had I've edited my post.

I'm now drinking the scraggy bay and it's much better, more fizz and head, it's well balanced and solid.

I know I don't like challenger much but it's rare I would not be able to finish a beer, watch out there was a lot of yeast at the bottom.

The dogfish head was a good find, I had a
Bottle of that about 2 years ago, prob when your one came over, good to hear it held up.

Breckenridge Vanilla Porter - was really in the mood for Porter this evening on seen this on the shop and didn't think twice about getting it.

Slightly malty chocolate taste initially followed by the vanilla hit. Really like this "Porter Ale" (as displayed on bottle).

Dogfish Head / Chicory Stout - well wow just wow. After the vanilla stout this is just amazing.

I get a major coffee hit followed by chocolate and a hint of liquorice. Afterwards I got a hint of chicory.Leaves your mouth with a dry feeling but have to say this is one tasty beer.

Can Dogfish head do anything wrong ?

This week I'm drinking 'Quintine La Biere des Collines', brought back from a trip to France.

A full, red coloured beer with a malty dryness, 8.5% ABV...very drinkable.

A case of 20 x 330ml flip-top bottles with a free branded glass for €40 on special offer (best before date 08/12)...result :D

Brought a bottle of Brooklyn Sorachi Ace around to a friends last night. His isn't much of a beer drinker but really enjoyed this introduction to great beer.
