I am thinking of building a lean too at the gable end of house to fit solar hot water tank, heat dump and associated things. existing hot press too small, attic too low.

How big does it need to be?

It needs to be big enough to accomadate all the appliances that are going into it and the layout of the appliances needs to be factored in. Room for maintenance too. You need to determine the dimensions of what ever your going with, try to visualize them in place and then from that work out the size of your plant room.

Appliances range in size so homework has to be done before hand.
