Ryanair two tents

Headin to a music festival in England tomorrow night with a few friends. We booked flights with Ryanair and the combined weight of the two tents is 19.8kg so we checked them in as one 20kg bag, the only problem being that the tents won't fit into any single bag that we have. Could we just place the two tent bags into a large plastic bag and then wrap that in clingfilm so it's secure? The handles would be left out to affix the destination tags on too. I know this sounds incredibly stupid and last minute but I really don't want to have to pay for another bag!

yes you can, it will have to go through oversized baggage though. ps dont take any **** from the check in staff about it. its not stupid at all, smart if anything

absolutely, once it's as one lump, it's one piece of luggage. It's only oversized if it's outside their standard luggage size limits and/or weight limits.
I would try get it wrapped somewhere that offers that service at the airport though, their "cling film" is more secure than the household stuff.

Yep, pallet wrap would be infinitely better than cling film. You can do a search for local suppliers, but I'm sure you'd get a roll of it somewhere locally.

Otherwise, if you happen to know someone in your local supermarket, they tend to keep some in the stockrooms for rewrapping pallets if they're shifting stuff around and might oblige.

Other option is a roll of Gaffer tape. You could then use this again if you are planning on bringing the tents back home with you
