I don't like people who go travelling to different countries and all they do there is get pissed, then come back and go on about how their holiday was a "life changing experience".
Sorry but I can learn more about a country and its culture from wikipedia than by going there and getting drunk and wasted.

TLDR.... People convicted of serious crimes should have their organs taken from them or be rented out for medical experimentation because they're of less worth to society then a lab animal.
While I feel revulsion for the crimes you have listed, I don't think we should ever get to the stage where we deem certain parts of society fair game for medical experimentation. It is the type of thinking that Hitler had and this was the result. Heartbreaking and barbaric and you ask yourself how on earth those doctors could bring themselves to do that. The answer is that these people weren't considered human. Once you can inflict that sort of torture on the "undesirables" of society, how long is it until you become desensitised and start adding more people to the criteria?

The sort of system you suggest is a slippery slope I hope we never go down.

Well, while I like the sentiment behind my post to be perfectly honest with you I was mighty drunk when I posted that. I didn't even realise I posted anything until I saw the little arrow thingy beside the thread title and had one those 'oh yeah' moments.

In a more sober state of mind I'd like to see the death penalty for crimes like those. My reasoning is I don't see why they should ever be allowed freedom again and I also see no reason for the tax payer to be burdened by paying for them to be kept locked away. In my mind the money spent on them could be better used to attempt some rehabilitation programmes that may have a chance of working.

I think afrcan women should be brought on the jeremy kyle show and be told to stick something on the end of it instead of being in charity ads.

Exactly. They are in it for the publicity, the cheeky whores! They simply love popping out babies, many of whom die before the age of five; endure painful childbirths, most times without the help of a qualified mid-wife and subject themselves to an existence you and I can hardly fathom in the hopes of getting their faces on that charity ad.
I dunno, I think there's a good point in that. I mean how is a government ever going to feel pressure to take care of it's peoples basic needs, when other countries are forever supplying aid? It really doesn't make sense to me to continue doing it.

I don't know- I don't think a government that lets its people starve in the first place is going to turn benevolent just because other people stopped helping their poor and cut off all aid. Take Mugabe for example...

My unpopular opinion: Western governments do not really want developing nations to be peaceful or get out of poverty. How else would they maintain the status quo?

I couldn't give a **** about the euros and Irish football (or any kind of football really). I'm getting fed with it getting shoved down my throat. Ireland will lose every game and are dreadful to watch. I usually keep my mouth shut about this for obvious reasons, but I was told I was "not irish" and unpatriotic when I mentioned this to a friend

Is it really being shoved down your throat though? I don't hear that much about it!

Maybe saying its shoved down my throat is a bit extreme but it is everywhere. Every news report always has some useless quote from trapatoni thrown in somewhere or robbie keane talking ****. There are ad's on bill boards, on the side of trucks and in newspapers relating to it. Everyone is jumping on the band wagon. I want to stress that I don't enjoy watching football as a spectator sport at the best of times.

I never came across that Gotye song before this thread.
I don't listen to the radio or take notice of the charts so I'm a bit behind
    It's excellent, I like it

I also dance to Abba in nightclubs but so does everyone. Yes you too! :pac:

Don't care about Il Trap and his team, didn't watch any of the qualifying games so no point starting now.

I dislike people putting slogans on the Irish flag. It's a flag, not a banner for cheering on someone.
Guinness got in trouble for this before but they got so much publicity it was worth it. Same goes for Davy Keogh says hello and others
You'd be lynched if you did that in the USA but they take it more seriously

The Daily Mail snobbery on After Hours goes a bit far.
Many see the OP's link, then chip in a remark about the paper but add nothing about the thread.
Why post on a thread you're not even going to read?
Daily Mail didn't read, DM;dr. You still replied though

The "indie rock" you hear in the charts is not proper indie rock.

Indie-pendent music is music released by a band on their own label, its nothing to do with being a particular type of rock.

Indie rock is nothing more than a front for guitar-dressed pop music, something the bands label themselves as to be cool, example Snow Patrol, The Kooks, The Killers, Arctic Monkeys, etc etc.

If you want real indie rock listen to The Smiths.

You don't give a **** about football yet you know that they are dreadful to watch?

Every larger sport is on the news, from GAA to tennis to football and horse racing to name a few.

I don't give two ****s about GAA, yet there are ads in the paper and bill boards and on the side of trucks, and by your logic everyone is jumping on the bandwagon just because it is the Championship.

    You're talking through your hole.

Yeah I have watched them the odd time in the past and they its almost painful. I'd watch some big games with friends because they're into it. Two good teams playing can be somewhat entertaining. Just because I dislike football as a whole doesn't mean I can't have an opinion on it.

Not the same degree as the Euro coverage. I typed 'sport' into google, rte's sport section came up first, 3 out 4 of the featured article are related to it

Didn't even notice the Championship to be honest. I don't follow GAA in the slightest (I am ashamed to say I've never been to croke park for a match).

There has been a massive amount of coverage on the euros. Ever since the group draw the levels of speculation have been ridiculous. A few songs have even been released! Can you say that about any other sport?
    You're talking through your hole.

I don't really know where I have lied at all here. I guess I've succeeded in having an unpopular opinion

It's not. I've seen the difference between kids with ADD/ADHD and simply hyperactive kids firsthand.
    There's no comparison.

Do some people claim that their children are suffering from such conditions when they're merely hyper or undisciplined?
    Of course.
But that doesn't mean that the conditions don't exist.

Nail, head. A significnt percentage of the East European women who came to Ireland were awful dour looking.

    Might get flamed for this.

I find that the majority of men who run down Irish women are either socially incompetent, or just plain unattractive. Ergo, not much joy with Irish females.

Then one day in work, some pretty eastern european girl is friendly to him. A girl thousands of miles away from home and self conscious about her English language skills(even though the vast majority of them have excellent comprehension of the language). So he uncomfortably asks her out. She has nothing planned, other than skyping her family back home for the evening, so agrees.

    Thus, the fixation is born.

Too right. In truth there is something I dont trust about alot of continental women, they are very money centred. I met German girls in Australia who havent bought themselves a drink in months, they just scab free ones of men trying to score them. They also tend to think we drink too much. It is a bit too holier than thou for my liking. Give me an attractive Irish girl who enjoy a drink and a banter over some foreign 25 year old who tut tuts when it comes to hard drinking or drugs anyday tbh. Not my type at all.

I haven't been with an Irish mot in two years. Not something I planned for, just the way the cookie crumbled and have been with foreign girls instead. Like Irish girls, they are a mixed bag.

Germans are notoriously tight/smart with money. If a drunken Irish lad is gonna pay for your beve, let him. If a German girl that you wouldn't ride into battle, bought your beers for the night, would you stop her?

    I as sure hell wouldn't.

Peck on the cheek, nice to meet you and onto the next boozer I go.

    :)

I don't like when the national anthem is played at the end of a night out. All you get is a crowd of jobs yelling out the last few words and whooping and clapping while jumping around like apes.

Far from being nationalistic or respectful it's almost the exact opposite. Drives me fu@#ing demented.
