I'll also be looking forward to Uncle Woy getting the sack after Engerland get dumped out at the group stages

You really need to get over this anti-English sentiment. And the having a go at their manager for having a slight speech impediment.

Looking forward to it. The last Euros were excellent, whereas the last World Cup was quite poor. There's a better standard of teams in the Euros as we don't have the whipping boys from other continents taking the places of better European teams. Even better with Ireland in it now :D

I predict jingoistic and tbh xenophobic comments from the English media about the superiority of their team and their nation

England vs France, roll out the Agincourt and "band of brothers" and Henry V headlines already

I will constantly read about 1966

And when they fail I will read the same journalists rip the team and management to shreds with the most vicious criticism you'll ever read

The Irish media will hope for the best :)

Then if it upsets you so much why bloody read the Sun or The Daily fail or whatever rag you're reading.

What was Wenger thinking bringing Walcott on that early?

This tournament...I just cannot wait! Ireland are there! we have a big result in us, mark my words! We will draw against the Croats, but we will beat either Spain or Italy. Probably Spain.

A few cliches that commentators and print journalists, will spout:

    German efficiency
    French flair
    Dutch Courage

As for some reason my threads cannot be viewed until approved by modedaror in Soccer Section of boards, ( and they nevere appeared online so far) I decided to open thread here about Irish team in Poland.
From what I can see in Irish media - lot of information is simply missing.

    1) Official welcome in Sopot

    Win or draw not impossible.

Next game is against current World and European champions Spain on Thurdsay the 14th @ 19:45..

...they might rise to the occassion. It's more likely to resemble what would happen Justin Bieber in prison though.

Final group game sees us take on Trap's homeland Italy on Monday the 18th, also kicking off at 19:45...

.....oddly, due to off-field events, theres a slim chance there.

Is it possible to display pictures in afterhours so everyone can view them straight away?

I'm missing picture graph in menu.

I think theres more than a slim chance of beating the Italians.

were gona put em under pressure

thats how we will win. when in doubt boot it out

216 days since Italy last scored a goal or won a game.

No way should we fear them.

Spain should easily beat us, but you never know. A 0-0 bore fest is feasible. We are a very difficult team to break down. But if they score early it could be a bit of a blood bath.

Croatia, they are beatable and missing one of their best players in Olic.

Second place is certainly a possibility.

Ireland are at 80/1. Tempted to put down a score.....

We're going to have to play like Chelsea did v Barcelona in the CL semis when we play Spain.

If we come out with a result, can't wait to hear all the tools and Barcelona fanboys who were posting shyte on Facebook like how "football was the loser" it was "a bad night for football", justify Ireland playing with 11 men behind the ball :D

Don't care about this. Pissed off that Blue Bloods won't be on for the next 3 weeks because of the Euros. More annoyed that my aunt entered me into a pool (I got Sweden) without asking.

Hopefully, especially for the ones who don't like football, everyone will get behind the team. Go down the pubs, buy the jerseys, buy the BBQ's and have a great 10 days and maybe more.

There's something about Ireland in a major tournament that we seem to pull a performance outta nowhere. It's a great tournament, even better when your own team is there. So we can get out and enjoy despite all the doom and gloom thats in the news every day!

    COYBIG!

Firstly nah I dont really care, I only care for the World Cup to be honest. Europe is yawn.

Secondly, have we never gotten into this before? This is the first time ever I recall such hubub about the European cup or whatever it is. How often is it held?

Every 4 years. Our last appearance was 1988.

There's only 16 teams in it so qualification can be difficult.

Football? Kicking a pigs bladder around a field? Sorry, not interested.

I prefer open-air combat with swords, riffles and cannons. I say we start with Belgium, nobody likes Belgium. Europe wouldn't be at a loss without it.
