Myself and my girlfriend have booked a weekend away in Dungiven castle, we got a deal for two nights with dinner etc. So I thought what better time to propose seen as I have the ring and all. The question is where? I had a few places in mind, Glencar being one and though Giants causeway might be good too seen as we'll be not too far from it.

We are travelling from Galway so I could go via Sligo and be "passing" Glencar, it's somewhere we both said we'd like to see and I really like it as a proposal venue. Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on both these locations.

Do I propose at Glencar Waterfall or Giants Causeway 13 votes

Never been to Glencar waterfall but Giant's Causeway is amazing IMO. I think it would a great place to get down on one knee

    Best of luck with it.

I would have to say Glencar waterfall is amazing never heard of it before my fiancée proposed to me there in February this year the area around Glencar is really beautiful. Im probably a bit biased. Never been to giants causeway so can't speak from experience.

Glencar! it is a lovely wee setting in a valley, nice even when it is raining would be a bit more sheltered than giants causeway. Right beside a lovely wee lake also. Good luck

This brings me back!! Comparing the two locations is pointless as they are both spectacular for very different reasons.

So the only answers here are what people personally rather, which means nothing to you and your gf..

Good luck to you, oh a bit of advice, practice what you are hoing to say a few times before hand. i mumbled and stamered my way through it down on ballyvaughan pier (was where we used to bring our drinks out from monks pub for years)

    Glencar it is!

Asked the future father in law for his blessing yesterday and I think that was more nerve racking then actually popping the question will be.

Doing it Thursday (dont care what way she votes in the treaty as long as she says yes to me) so I better get moving with organising myself.

best of luck !! (will I PM my address for wedding invite or is it going to be a general boards invite ??) ...lol

I proposed in our bedroom - a week or so before we went off to Thailand on a romantic holiday - she was beaming the whole two weeks and even more when we came back....she was still asleep and couldnt believe what was happening.

lol...its quirky ...but it was more "us" than a scenic beauty spot and we can visit it whenever we want !!

giant's causeway is very busy and not secluded. if the waterfall isn't a major tourist attraction then I would go with that.

We left a wet and miserable Galway on Thursdsay morning, she thought we were just going to Dungiven Castle for a break to celebrate her birthday but I went the scenic route through Sligo and on to Glencar.

As we approached Sligo i could see blue skies on the horizon and it did clear up. We got to Glencar waterfall, took a few pics and we were going to tuck into the picnic I packed, but not before i got down on one knee. The sun had just started to shine and she said yes.

I packed chocolate dipped strawberries and sparkling wine (champagne would have been a waste as i was driving and there was champagne waiting at the castle)

Dungiven Castle was deadly, stayed there 2 nights, went to Giants causeway on day 2. Could have done it there as it is deadly and found some secluded spots but my nerves couldnt take holding on and we both loved Glencar.
