They're unknown to the vast majority of the worlds population. The media wouldn't touch them either because they'd be spying on their bosses.

This is just your own embellishment. The media won't report on them? are you kidding me? Peter Mandelson..

I could, but I feel I'd be wasting my time.

In other words "I don't know"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,455 ✭✭✭✭Monty Burnz

Yes, I know you don't know. But you have no need to continue in ignorance on the subject - the Wikipedia article on central banks will fill in some of the gaping holes in your knowledge of the subject.

Listen you sad man, if you know the answer tell us all, otherwise go away and try getting a life instead of coming on here to annoy people because that's all you seem to be good at right now.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,455 ✭✭✭✭Monty Burnz

Um ... I already told you that central banks do not exist to lend to the government. If you can't figure out why that makes sense from an economic and governance perspective, then I despair for you.

Superluck, take 3 days off for continually insulting people.

I don't see how it needs to be expanded. What don't you understand?
"it calms people" isn't a valid reason to permit something that is harmful to others.
And by that rational, then anything that you can take to "calm yourself" should be allowed. I'm sure we can all see the downsides of that.

Specifically what do you mean by anything that you can take
    like names of products etc
Second hand smoking is a demonstrably harmful phenomenon.

You will have no trouble in providing evidence of second hand smoking being harmful in wide open spaces then
Actually, your right - by going to reductio ad hitlerum you've gone past pathetic to a special place where shameless bullshit is second only to an imagined status as a persecuted victim.

I admit I had to look that up

So I apologise if you think I was accusing you of having a Nazi ideology that was not my intention

My reference to the First they came statement was from a vague memory of it and I was merely trying to put across that if a groups rights are being eroded and however distastful they are to others

They are still their rights and should be protected as long as they dont infringe on anybody elses

It was you who brought the Nazi persecution of jews into the debate when the First they came statement mentioned many groups even the the author dont remember who he included
I guess that was just to add a little weight to your accusation of me being pathetic

And when I try to defend myself by showing how Hitler and the Nazi's viewed smokers in relation to jews and others that they deemed geneticaly weak and degenerate
You then launch in to another diatribe using Reductio ad Hitlerum as your basis
Rather than disputing the evidence I put forward

I'm a smoker and it's a disgusting unhealthy habit. The ban was widely accepted in Ireland and most other countries based on health reasons, common sense, reason and rational.

Then you need to look a little deeper into your self

I find smoking a pleasurable experience granted it unhealthy but many things are
When it comes to the stage when I dont enjoy it or it affects my health where I dont think its worth it I will stop

It affects your health from the start, it just takes time for those effects to show up.

They're only allowed to dig a certain bit. Any journalist who breaks the rules are sacked.

Only this week Tony Blair was saying he got too close to the media to get them on his side.

Would you like to give examples? Because I think this is total nonsense.

So you are saying that the journalists exerted huge influence over the politicians? Isn't that the opposite of what you meant to argue?

I am well aware of the effects of smoking

I would strongly advise anyone not to take it up

My argument here is about the rights of a group being eroded
And its not just about me I think if I was a non smoker I would feel the same

    Really what are the rules?
Only this week Tony Blair was saying he got too close to the media to get them on his side.

Absolutely, and only a few months before we had Vince Cable declaring war on Murdoch. The choice quotes were ironically caught by undercover reporters.

What part of the smoking ban are you arguing against?

Appologies if this article is up here already,it also lists some of those who were at the 2012 meeting:
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/us-news-blog/2012/jun/01/bilderberg-2012-chantilly-occupy?newsfeed=true

I find it strange that Michael Noonan was at it.Why would an Irish Finance Minister be at something like this??,we are such a tiny little fish that i wouldnt think they'd be bothered wanting us there.

Great article. Even has proof of Tony Blair lying about being there. I know the skeppies here are passionate about dishonesty and lying so I expect them to be all over this lol.

And the fact that Noonan, a public representitive, is taking part in secret discussions which never see the light of day should have alarm bells ringing.

Tony Blair has been caught lying plenty of times. You'd have to have your head buried deeply in the sand for that to be news.

Why should alarm bells be ringing if a meeting is held in private?

The only link I see here, repeatedly, is that if any sort of authorities or officials in power engage in something secret, then, according to a fringe of individuals it must, by suspicion, be "evil".

The Bilderberg group have been acting as a collective think-tank to try and sort out the world's problems, the only sinister part is that fact that they most likely over-represent their own country or region or business interests.

Since that is not very interesting, its much more fun to replace it with conspiracy theories.

Ah your having a fu*kin laugh think-tank and Michael Noonan in the same breath

a couple of quotes from Noonan

“This is the budget of a puppet Government, which is doing what it has been told to do by the IMF, the EU Commission and the European Central Bank.”

“I wonder do members of the Government ever feel ashamed?”

Maybe he's just gone over to get fitted for new strings

It's an explanation of what the Bilderberg group is and does. Politicians and business leaders with vested interests hobnobbing with others of their ilk is as sinister as it gets.

Noonan should be proof enough the group isn't a bunch of "globalist elites" formulating a plan to enslave mankind, indoctrinate the masses, yadda yadda

    Yea.:)

Oosterbeek is a lovely spot. How did such a nice place spawn such a horrible organisation?

It gets a mention in today's Guardian.

Protest groups converge to denounce secretive Bilderberg conference
