Just looking for recommendations really - Above is the Toyota 58808 - Which is crap really. Tuner seems to have a mind of its own and the RDS is useless.

    - I was going to replace the stereo outright but it happens to have the MPG readout built in - so might keep unless someone knows a way I could remove LCD and mount somewhere else with its 12v and associated wiring for this function only etc?

Whats the best way of hooking an iPhone up to this? USB would be nice too so I could to stick in a 60GB bus powered HD in the glove box or somewhere.

Budget would need to be reasonable!

    Thanks!

    Thanks OSI - Much appreciated.

    - Yeah, would be nice to have track names, but I suppose manageable if iPhone was mounted at a good level within comfortable sight of screen etc.

Folks would I be mad to keep the Stereo just for the MPG readout - seems like I'd be losing out on a load of other features on a decent double din modern stereo then just for the sake of it...... MPG is terrible anyhow!!!! :D

I'd get a new stereo with bluetooth, usb, microphone etc.
You already know that the MPGs are bad, no need to have a screen telling you to not drive the car so hard.

I put this in my astra and I'd highly recommend it,has reversing camera input too but no gps, Although you can use the gps from an iphone or something.never tried it.

There's a sale in Halfords that includes two JVC double-din units with iPhone connection.
    Link 1
    Link 2

Start at 159 which isn't bad for a double-din unit, it's just missing Bluetooth. For a full featured double-din unit have a peep at the Alpine version Link 3 or for the fully committed iPhone user the Pioneer Link4
