    Charlize Theron:eek:

    :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Screw Snow White, Hail Theron! She almost sounds like she's saying the Green Lantern oath there at the end.

I don't know. It looks like a hopelessly generic fantasy action film with the general plot of Snow White shoddily stapled on.

The milk bath shot was visually arresting. Otherwise, I couldn't give a **** about this on the basis of the trailer.

Here's the trailer for Tarsem's effort. Didn't want to start another snow white related thread.

I think the other one looks like a masterpiece compared to that. Has Tarsem thrown in the towel? First Immortals and now that, I don't thing THe Fall was a masterpiece by any stretch(although I'm aware a few do) but at least it wasn't generic hollywood blockbuster fare and the visiuals were stunning. I'm sure the visuals won't be bad in that either but a lot of whats in that trailer just looks like a soundstage.

Oh dear. Or should I say snow dear: whoever wrote the script for that deserves a swift boot in the ass, frankly.

Doesn't even look visually arresting (HI HO, HI HO). Then again, I'd be with you on The Fall - a triumph of cinematography, but the storytelling was all over the gaff. Looks like studio interference and high budgets aren't Tarsem's strong suit.

How Kirsten Stewart is getting any work after the Twilight franchise is beyond me. She's abysmal.

She totally ruined Adventureland for me. Did not know she had a role in the film needless to say when she did appear I was sorely tempted to walk out of the cinema.

People think she is great but she plays the same role over and over again. There may be slight variations in each role but basically the same mammerisms and facial expressions are required. So easy to play your moody self. She has a limited acting range. How she gets critical acclaim I do now know. She is carried by her co stars and out-acted the majority of time. Maybe becasue she does small films which tend to be looked on more favourable by critics or that she has managed to cozy up to Sean Penn.

Mind you I think I actually saw her smile recently in pics obviously that media training she was apparently forced into taking must be working slightly. Next would be to work on stringing a coherent setence /speech together.

I expect to be bomabrded now by her fangirls.

she was never forced into media training, you must have dreamed that up

Saw the trailer for this in the cinema on Saturday evening. It's an interesting idea but doesn't look very appealing. May give it a miss methinks.

Bad as it looks at least it is more or less the Snow White Story. that said right bow I'd be more inclined to see the huntsman because Charlize Theron >>>>>>> Julia Roberts

There's always 1997's "Snow White: A Tale of Terror" starring Sam Neill and Sigourney Weaver. :D

I think a modern revision could be cool. Folk tales can be so relentlessly dark when Disney aren't involved. I couldn't give two craps even if they have the entire Twilight cast in it tbh.

    One word $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

They want to hone in on the whole Twilight crowd.

Also it is very interesting that up to 4 leading men refused or dropped out of the project. Easy to guess why.

What .. you think it was because of Kristen Stewart? Are you even serious ..................

    Wow, what a cast!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 365 ✭✭foodie66

    (Rupert Sanders)

I saw the trailer for it before The Hunger Games and it looks brilliant! Super cast and it looks to be an interesting take on the fairytale, taking it from Disneyesque back to it's Grimm origin!

Can't wait! I actually saw a different version to this trailer and it was even better.

    Pity about Snow White.

i like her a lot. I saw her in The Runaways with Dakota Fanning and she was great, like a mini Joan Jett

**** like, just look at the frozen frame there.
Given her mouth looking like it is shouting, you would imagine that there would be some emotion showing, on the rest of her face, but no. More emotion on the tree behind her

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,976 ✭✭✭✭humanji

In fairness, that is one highly emotive tree!

I'm unsure about this film. Other than Stewart, it's got a fantastic cast and looks like a great fantasy film, but I'm worried it's going to end up just being another Tween movie like the recent Red Riding Hood film.

Come on, that's just silly. There is not liking her acting and there is just grasping for things to complain about . I'll never understand why everyone jumps on the bandwagon of saying she never shows emotion or expression. I saw a photoset on tumblr of all different expressions she used in her films, one of her fangirls had made to disprove that she is one note, and yet people were still saying 'no emotion'. It's weird how people continue to say it even when proven wrong.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,656 ✭✭✭norrie rugger

It has not been proven wrong. Everything that I have seen her in she has been the same.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 365 ✭✭foodie66

well, that's your opinion, and i am sure you have seen a lot of her work, but you can't say she is expressionless or emotionless, because there are a multitude of pictures that prove you wrong

  • Administrators, Computer Games Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 32,753 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭Mickeroo

The only movies that i've seen her in in which she gives a truly bad performance are the Twilight ones. She was really good in Adventureland and Into the Wild. Heard she's decent in The Runaways too but not seen it. I suspect she really doesn't give two ****s about Twilight which could probably be said of the entire cast of those movies.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,323 ✭✭✭Savman

Well that was absolutely painful. Quite possibly the worst film I've seen in a while.

Kristen Stewart is no leading lady, that's for sure. Thor is going through the motions and Ms Theron is unusually poor for a lady of her calibre.

How the actors keep a straight face while delivering some of that woeful dialogue is beyond me, I'm sure there's some who will enjoy this but for me it is all over the place and has no idea how to do whatever it is trying to do. I didn't care about Snow White or her cause.

    2/10

I saw a poster for this today and was trying to figure out why there were a load of hobbits on it.

Then I remembered the seven dwarfs.

    Cue face palm.

I enjoyed some aspects of it, the costumes, sets, effects and general production design are all top notch stuff. the forest and its creatures look like Guillermo Del Toro meets Princess Mononoke, so it looks like the entire budget is up there on screen, the beach assault on the castle is a decent setpiece that could have gone on a bit longer.
Hemsworth is good in a role that doesnt really demand much but fighting and drinking, Theron is all venom and hammy ott statements about power and the like. and Stewart is the weak link, she certainly isnt believeable as someone who would rally an army behind her after one half arsed speech. The dwarfs are all great though.
