My 5 month old laptop got knocked over today and the screen is now banjaxed :( there's a crack in the top left hand corner and it's displaying faded, flickering half cut off pictures. Im thinking the pc world warranty wont cover gob****ery damage  Does anyone know how much its gonna cost to fix? I'm thinking it might be less expensive to buy a replacement screen and do it myself but I don't know how big of a job it would be.....

Buying the screen and doing it will be somewhere around 60 - 75, getting it done for you will be 110 -125 and this depends where you go.

Doing it yourself is only an option if you know what you are doing and are familiar with electronic components, have opened a laptop before and feel confident enough to do and indeed you have good tools for it.

I can't really say how difficult or easy it is as that is only a subjective opinion, I don't know your ability. There is a lot you can make worse if your not familiar with laptop dismantling as there is pretty much only one sequence that works when doing these repairs. There is also the static scenario which has been known to damage chips. If you can afford the professional fix you should go down that road for peace of mind
