RSJ/Concrete head installation

    Hi all, I am in need of an expert to prop up a load bearing wall to the rear of my home, remove the existing concrete head, extend the 'void' from 2m to approx 4m and replace the old head with steel/RSJ or another concrete head (not sure on building regs. for this, need to research).

    Is there any recommendations for this - Dublin area? Is it specialist or would a building contractor do this for me? Is there a ball park cost for this - given that access to the existing concrete head is already made and 2m of the 4m void needed is already completed?

    i would strongly advise you emply a structural engineer or very experienced builder.

    Get a structural engineer to advise you on the design and provide the necessary detailing and supervision of the builder undertaking the works. Unless also a practising engineer, builders are not qualified or insured to design beams or other structural works.
