In fact I can remember when they were far less but that's not my point.
Pre-Euro these items were around the 30p mark, then these items shot up when Mary Harney wasn't watching.
Saw a pack of Hunky Dorys in my local Centra this morning for €1.10 a pack.
When did confectionery get so mad expensive ?.

I'll admit to buying the copy bars in Lidl/Aldi now cause they're 95% as good as the originals.
Anyway, stop gouging us, how much does it cost to put about 12 crisps in a bag anyway ?.

Eat some fruit instead fatty! :pac:

Serious answer - I refuse to pay more than 1 euro for a choclate bar. (and am pretty outraged paying that as is)

I remember being outraged when a bag of Tayto went up to 13p.

£1 = €1.27 we were told but in reality when we changed over it was more like:

£1 = whatever euro equivalent you wanted to charge

I remember when they were 12 & a half pence & I had the exact change.
The lady behind the counter informed me they were now 13p & she couldn't let me off.
I had to walk back home for the halfpenny.

The Euro's fault tbh. I knew it was a bunch of **** when pound shops became 2 Euro shops.

My fav purchase at the shop was a packet of Meanies for 10p and a packet of Frosties sweets for 10p also. Pure bliss for 20p :D

Do they make Mr. Freeze anymore?
    Haven't seen them in years
Oh I'd love a blue Mr Freeze right now

    There was also club shandy
    Contained about 0.000000005% beer
Thought I was so hard walking around with my club shandy
They don't sell it anymore because it was vile!

Back when crisps were actually called Cheese and Onion and not things like Orkney Cheddar and Caramelized Shallot.

The crisps were unsalted and had a little sachet for salt in each bag. Of course, we had to fill them with our own salt before mixing it in.

One time the kids in this family across the road from me (The Flanderseses, basically) all had an exotic new confection called Yorkie (the ad had been on telly once or twice and they were seen as something special). They weren't for sharing, so no danger of mooching a giant truck-sized square.

Anyhoo, turns out the local shop had them. I managed to get 10p together (scabbed it, robbed it from me ma's handbag, can't remember) and headed over to the shop, mad keen for a Yorkie.

Crushing blow - they were 17p a pop. I couldn't believe how expensive they were.

    Went home defeated.

Pretentious bollox alright, although I do buy those expensive Kettle crisps when I know I'm gonna be around town late, seen as it's illegal to carry knives.

Truth be told: nobody will ever make a nicer pack of crisps than 'Ma Reilly's.

The little blue sachets. I used to throw in a bit of vinegar as well. Lovely stuff.
