Shoes half a size too big

I bought a pair of heels last week that are half a size too big for me. I deliberately bought them because they seemed to fit better and were more comfortable in the shop than my actual size. They were fine when I wore them around the house but once I wore them out it was a different story, my feet started sliding in them even though they hadn't done that before, and as a result I couldn't really walk in them and my feet ended up quite sore and blistered :( Is there anything I could do with them so that I could wear them again? They're open toe so I can't just stuff something in the toe of them. I also don't know if I'd be bothered getting anything done to them by a professional (if such a thing exists) because they were fairly cheap. Anyone got any ideas?

You could try insoles or heel grips? If they're only half a size too big they'll probably help :)

I usually wear size nine shoes but they're nearly always too big. I recently bought size eight shoes and they were far too tight. I went back to wearing size nine and put insoles in them which helped. It took me a while to find the right insoles but I eventually bought Punch comfort insoles in Tesco. You have to cut them to size yourself which takes some practice and you might waste a pair or two before you get them right, but I find other types of insoles are too narrow for my shoes.

I'm a man and I wear runners but the insoles I bought are unisex and are supposed to work in any type of shoe.
