I'm having difficulty getting this to work.

The instructions on the UCD page are for staff only, so I have been following the gmail instructions: http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=77689

My 'username' is firstname.lastname@ucdconnect.ie and my password is my ucdconnect password. However, when I set it up, a box keeps popping up asking me for my username and password (it's already filled in, but if I click OK, it comes up again, if I click OK again, it comes up again, etc. etc. - but when I click Cancel it waits about a minute before popping up again). The details are correct.

Has anyone managed to get this to work properly? It's Outlook 2007 that I have, with Windows 7.

    Thanks

Try using firstname.lastname or your id number as your username (without @ucdconnect.ie)

    No joy I'm afraid :(
Bizarrely, when I was setting it up this morning, I tried using student number as ID first - it had the same result, but when I pressed cancel, it turns out I did in fact get one of those Outlook test emails in my UCD account - but it still won't work!

Doesn't work sadly! This is very strange, I thought it would be easy! Those gmail checkers can read email from it so it should work!

You need to do one or two steps first that aren't listed in the gmail settings page.

Fantastic, thank you - that works :)
It was the setting up the Gmail Apps password that was necessary!
