UCI Cinemas finally decide to rebrand as Odeon

Looks like Odeon have finally decided to rebrand their Irish cinemas under the Odeon name - noticed the planning permission notices are up at UCI Blanchardstown today, for permission to replace the UCI exterior signage with Odeon branded ones.

Took them long enough to do it, the UK cinemas were rebranded seven years ago. Although in the interim Odeon sold the Irish sites to Entertainment Enterprises (Leisureplex) and bought them back only last year.

Apparently the long awaited cinema at the Point will also open as an Odeon, though there have also been reports that it will be branded "Point Pictures".

Wonder why they have waited till now to do this, especially when they've only just rebranded the Stillorgan cinema as a UCI?
