We are thinking of getting a bifold door, that's a door that slides and folds,in place of our patio door.

I was just wondering if anyone here has any experience of them? Do they cause problems? Are they are airtight as a traditional patio door?

I have been quoted around 4k for a 2m in length pvc bifold door which is very expensive. Would this be average price?

I have one onto our patio, one section opens in, the other 3 concertina up the other end.

Its about 4 meters wide. I was told that both the wooden and the PVC ones will warp and twist over time and I went for an aluminium one that is finished in creme to match the rest of the windows.

Our locks all across at various points. Isnt 2m a bit narrow ? How many sections will there be ....3 ?

BTW I ahve no problem with sealing, even in stormy weather. Ours was made by Munster Joinery.

the key to good bi fold doors is the iron wear ie the hinges runners and guides try get system where each door takes it own weight and has very robust metal work. i had designed one into my house but could not find a proper system on irish market for what i wanted so in stead i hav two sliding doors which are lift off runners that take own weight and can be locked off in any position
