Those of us using the Card Trick have had it on our EPG for over a month.

Kinda worked for me, as in it found C4 HD and More 4 + 2 but where do the channels go once I've chosen to "Add channels"

'Other Channels' unless you use the Card Trick to bring it into your Irish EPG.

    Thanks gtg60.

Any links to how to do the Card Trick. I'm sure there's a thread on it somewhere but I'm on mobile and searching is a pain in the hole.

All you need is a UK card, Irish sub and a (non first gen Thomson) Sky HD box.

Get one free of charge by filling in the contact form on Setanta's website.
Say you would like a card to receive programmes under the BAI sound and vision scheme and that you have your own receiver and dish.

Then choose satellite and subscription enquiries. Fill in the form and play the waiting game. Do not contact Setanta or Sky after you get the card as activating it will render it useless for the card trick.

I did satellite and enquiries, not subscription enquiries. Does that mean it won't go through?

    Should I do it again?

Nah, twill be grand. They'll likely respond today so you'll know for sure then.

Just got an email from them, there is mention that if they order the card for me and I have a Sky card...
We must also advise that if we request a card for you and you do have an existing Sky card then this may cause loss of service on your current viewing card.

Is this only if the card is activated?

Just ignore that. Tell them you want to continue to order the card for BAI programmes and are aware of all other implications.

It just means you cant receive your sky package once the new card is in. But once you put your sky card in, you will have access to your sub (and hopefully the other channels on your epg).

Please can someone advise, if I get one of those cards from setanta all I have to do is put it in a sky box and I can get a few extra channels and they will be available on the epg? Are these the same type of card that is getting sold on adverts for something like €20. Don't want to order one if it's not, Thanks.

    Yes and no.

If you don't have a sub with Sky then yes the free card from Setanta will give you a few extra scrambled channels, the problem is that it puts the Irish EPG on the box and that means no ITV, Channel 5 family or Channel 4 family without going to 'Other channels'.

The cards on adverts that go for €25 are UK FTV cards, firstly these will put all the UK FTA channels on your EPG plus you will get the scrambled ones that the Setanta card gives you (VIVA, Liverpool FC TV, MOTORs TV etc) and will also give you Pick TV and it's +1 and Channel 5 HD (if you've a HD box).

Oh yeah be careful if you're ordering a card off adverts as some are not FTV cards they are only FTA cards so make sure the seller says it can allow you to watch Channel 5 HD and Pick TV.

They are like a limited FTV card in that they allow you to watch SOME of the FTV channels but they are very different to the UK FTV cards.

The Satanta cards can be used to do the card trick, no?

Yes, an unactivated one can but I'm talking to Dub12Dave about something completely different.
