    Might want to mention where abouts in the country you are.

    Theres better than the new boston around for free.

    In the usual places theres basics of programming fundementals and java essential training both by Lynda.com

    Then the book Head First: Java

    That first course if incredible if your a beginner. Possibly the best ive ever seen learning anything

    Recommend thenewboston for java, nice tutorials. Maybe a book like Head First: Java or Deitel & Deitel.

    This follows a Stanford course and has video lectures along with assignments and exams etc. It'll give you the structure of a college course but you can do it at your own pace!
