    Hi All,
I think I know the answer to this before I ask but thought I would run it by the people in the know.

I live about half way between the Maghera and Tonabrockey transmitters (abouth 23km as the crow flies to either). I have the Hauppauge box attached to a HP DV9700 laptop that I am using as a media server with my television. Just for the heck of it I bought a small indoor aerial and connected it all up not really expecting much but was surprised to receive an EPG and all the channels tuned it. Only problem is I got sound and no picture. I have updated my video drivers but no good.

    So the questions are,
    1. Am I too far from the transmitters to use an indoor aerial?
    2. Is the Hauppauge box capable of receiving Saorview properly?

    Many Thanks.

Sounds like win vista or win xp and no mpeg4 codec to interpret the video stream. Your reception should either work ...or not. It works.

Download FFDSHOW, you may need to add it to an ini file for Hauppage s/w to find it.

On install, if asked, allow it to handle mpeg 4 and H.264 and mpeg-4 AVC

WinTV the software that Hauppauge supplies, does not work correctly with Saorview. You have to buy the HD version/

When it does work, you will be picking up Maghera. Tonabrocky is a weak transmitter.

I had Win v6 with MPEG-2 tuner and did not let me watch RTE / Saorview but I download the later version, WIN TV v7 and that work well

try this, select the model you have and then download the latest version but you need the orginal CD to allow you to install the software
