I didn't mention the fake Mario tweet?

Chatter is about Chang as Director of Communications. Totally out of left field I'll admit but an experienced bloke. Worked in big media organisations and would be known to the owners from his work with SI I'd say.

oh I know, mistake in the order of tweets, had you quoted as part of the Chang thing.
Corrected it a couple of mins ago.

Andy Carroll would like to offer a full and frank apology to the honourable Dr Galen and hopes this minor confusion will not affect his application for DOC.

I like Martinez and think he's a good manager but this would be quite the step up for him. Not sure he's ready for it yet.

I'd be an awful lot happier if the club were approaching some established managers like Klopp for example.

I don't like Martinez, he comes across as a fake and a spoofer in interviews, much like Hodgson, trying to sound like he is ultra-intelligent but basically talking complete crap - more interested in sounding good than being good, the guy strikes me as lacking the backbone and hard edge to succeed at a big club - if Liverpool hire him it will be yet another mistake

the players will see through him fairly quickly and we'll be screwed again

Especially LuckyLloyd, you've gone mad as far as I can tell, chill out, Andre Villas Boas was one who seemed a dead cert to succeed last year and didn't quite get there (should of been given more time for sure though). There is no guarantee a Capello or Klopp or Emery or any of the other top managers will out perform the likes of Martinez if he gets the job, infact if you applied your own nonsense reasoning those managers would never of gotten huge jobs with Dortmund (Massive Club) and Valencia (Massive CLub) so really calm down, give the proccess a ****ing minute and when a decision is made either give the new man a chance or just please please **** off.

There is no guarantee that any of these managers would be more successful than Martinez but there is more evidence to suggest they would.

I would have no issue with Martinez getting the job, but he would need at least three years to get the club where he needs to be.

And the reality is he wouldn't be given that time. We have one of the most impatient fan bases in the world. Half of our fan base just called for one of our most iconic managers to be sacked.

Whoever comes in will have to make an impact immediately and be very close to the top 4 within the first season.

A journalist as a director of comms is hardly that strange. This country is full of RTE hacks who have handled politcal parties PR/marketing.

Rodgers and Martinez are very disappointing names to be linked with. One decent season from Rodgers? Sorry, that's not enough.

I remember saying to friends of mine who were calling for Rafa's head a few years ago that we would look back on his time at the club as being part of the good old days relative to what would come. Sadly this looks to be the case.

Twitter now reports that Rafa is also in a four man list of targets.

    Please God.

Kenny Dalglish is supposed to have refused compensation after being sacked, telling FSG to put the money towards transfers.

Please not. Not that I believe random twitters.

If people think Jen Cheng is an odd choice as director of communications, what kind of person were they expecting? What is a typical DOC? I'd guess many communications people at large companies are ex-journos.

To say only as much Journalist is a bit of a disservice too, Senior Editor at Sports illustrated is a pretty big deal.

Any rumours who the DOF is that Duncan Jenkins is talking about?

People are going to give themselves a heart-attack if they live and die by every bit of twitter gossip. And on the Director of Communications front - I think Chang is a great addition. Extremely knowledgeable, seems like a nice guy and is very experienced in regards to media/PR.

Absolutely. Was at ESPN before that.

Has great football and player knowledge. Comes out with quite a few reports on rather obscure players. Kinda like an Oriental looking Kess tbh.

Haven't seen anyone reliable say anything yet, but Txiki is the name doing the rounds on twitter.

However, the bigger question for Liverpool fans is whether there is really anybody who could do a better job under the present circumstances. Given the severe financial restraints in place, and the almost unrealistic expectations under which any Liverpool manager operates, it's hard to see any elite managers (i.e. Jose Mourinho) being interested. Which leaves the Liverpool owners with the choice of retaining Benitez, opting for a recycled "big name" or gambling with a lesser-known up-and-comer such as Roberto Martinez.
When examined in that light, you could argue that Liverpool might be best served giving Benitez one more season to see if he can get his house in order. For now, Benitez's virtues probably still outweigh his flaws, but the biggest question remains his willingness to change and adopt a more daring approach.

If Txiki is our new DOF and he wants Martinez or Rogers who whoever, then we should listen to him.

If were to go for the Barcelona style of things, then Martinez, Rogers or AVB wouldn't be bad candidates to implement that style of play.

Can't really imagine Rafa working under a DOF.
