Wonder would Rafa like the DOF role, wonder would he consider putting his name quietly in for it or would it end up causing too much friction behind the scenes.

Kess, you need not apply for the job. Myself and Anfield Cat have handed in our CV's and have been installed as the bookies favourites.

Sorry fella, but that show of insubordination has just seen you made favouirte for the WBA job. :p

If you have a problem with that, go speak with my head of communications and PR. I am sure that Mr LuckyLloyd will look after you in his own special way.

Three men who heavily favour a flexible 4-3-3.

Saddened but not surprised by the news. FSG better get the replacement right. Would be dubious about AVB and underwhelmed by Martinez. MON can fcuk off. I hope they consider Benitez.

Steve Clarke's resignation is irritating, I'd have liked him to remain, he seemed to have whipped the defence into good order.

If it is AVB then I want all Liverpool posters to sign a gagging order as to not call for the managers head in the first two seasons.:pac:

On a serious note but....someone mentioned that this has a waft of David Dein off it, if so then for me it's definitely AVB .

He loves philosophies and brought a young fairly unknown Wenger to Arsenal.
The owners could be briefed that AVB has similar qualities and a proper philosophy that we should buy into.

Didn't we go after him before ?...AVB that is.

Now is a good time to grab .

This mass clear out smells of some sort of plan
    or am i wishfully thinking

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,968 ✭✭✭✭mike65

    Right then, here's the plan

    Brian Barwick as CEO
    AVB as manager
Rodolfo Borrell as his number 2 (or Di Matteo?)
    Sign Hulk!

Just on AVB i think his prefered tactic would suit liverpool down to the ground

we are suited to playing a high backline because we have Reina he is fantastic at sweeping and have reletively quick defenders when carra doesnt play.

we are also suited to his 4-3-3 formation as we have no decent wingers and most of our cm's cant play in a 2 man midfield. I think it suits suarez coming in off the right side of a 3 man attack aswell and he should get more space

posted this a couple of days ago about AVB and that was before I thaught of the link with 4-3-3 and Borrell and Segura

MARTIN O NEIL or THE SPECIAL ONE :D:D

    PLEASE NO RAFA OR MARTINEZ!!!!!

We need to move forward not backwards

Dalglish is clearly a legend and this period should not tarnish that. Remember he brought the club out of the disaster of Hodgson's tenure (That's right, it was a disaster) and got some silverware.

That said I think it was the right move by FSG. Get AVB, Rafa or Lambert in and back them. Deschamps at an outside bet. No flavour of the month managers, no MON. Someone who'll be able to look after the club in the long term, buy well, use the wonderful academy Rafa developed. These guys can do that.

Ah feck that, I don't get the dismay at Clarke leaving. It was a joint effort, he had his input too on what was a poor season.

He seemed to have Kenny's ear.

I'm not convinced that our defence was all that outstanding like some seem to make out.

Talk of Skrtel to City? I'd cash in quick smart. Good player, not a top class centre half but have an eye catching season, we would be selling on his recent performances and i'd take a big fee.

Its a bit like a signing we would make, decent player has a season of overachievement and we spend big. Be nice if the shoe was on the other foot.

I see the owners are getting a lot of flack on RAWK. Is noone else impressed with their ruthlessness? The performances on the pitch have not matched their ambition and they are acting swiftly on it. To sack so many people is going to cost them a lot (financially) but they obviously think it's for the good of the team and so, are prepared to pay the price.

Any honest Liverpool fan can see that we simply haven't been good enough over the past couple of years. We haven't improved over the last year, despite spending money. Kenny, as much as I love him, was completely unable to address the problems we had on the pitch this season. It seems like a logical decision to me.

I just hope they get this next appointment right - it is crucial. This extended period of bad form at the club is in danger of becoming more than just a slump. They need to get everything right this summer.

I dont agree with any of this.

Firstly, people would want to wake up and look at bigger pictures. LFC has invested, repeat, invested 50 mil over 4 years in this team. There was a pile of dross that had to leave and still needs to leave.

People can talk about money spent, sure money was spent, the majority was re invested from sales. 18 months ago we were putting out teams away at Birmingham for example, that cost the same as what Torres cost Chelsea, whole teams.

Kenny Dalglish did not negotiate prices for players, the prices paid under KK were Comolli doings, if Comolli had done a good job in negotiating, that investment would be closer to 10/15mil over 4 years. So......what for a new manager? expect miracles?

Dalglish, in effect, picked up the scraps that were left around the Anfield table after years of neglect. A simple reinvestment of funds isnt going to cure that, you need 3 years at least of aggressive spending.

I see folk saying they made a good decision, really?, did it ever dawn on people that these owners never even heard of LFC 2 months before they bought it?, who is advising them exactly?.

When you say 'i just hope they get the next decision right', what you actually mean is 'i pray they get it right because secretly i have no fking idea what they will do next', it could be calamitous.

"They need to get everything right" ........those types of comments dont surprise me. Its basically a comment that means "i expect instant gratification", thats whats wrong with football, not whats right with it. Someone tell me what would be the point in this!!!!, sign up AVB?, give him 60 mil? tell him to plan for a future? sign players for a future? and then hand out more p45's like confetti after 12-18 months?. You cant bring in 21 yr olds and expect to hit the ground running.

And whats all this nonsense im hearing about wanting someone based on the age of the manager?, what sort of sh1te is this?, does it mean if someone (their advisers) suggests Hiddink or Capello, arguably 2 of the best on the planet its instantly rebuffed?. I would weep.

As far as i can see, these owners have definite ideals regarding off the pitch but im 100% undecided on if they have a fking clue what they are at closer to on pitch. I felt they were good so far off the pitch but the 'swingometer' just took a large jolt the other way today.

    Ayre: Kenny unified LFC

Liverpool Managing Director Ian Ayre tonight thanked Kenny Dalglish for the job he performed at Liverpool Football Club and insisted it wasn't a mistake to appoint him.

The Reds manager tonight parted company with the club for the second time after a 16-month spell in the Anfield hot-seat but Ayre insists that Dalglish has left the club in a better position than when he arrived.

I hope Liverpool get the right manager this time and that he is allowed the time (and plenty of it) to put his mark on the club.

For me Liverpool need to find a way of playing that is their own. When I watched Liverpool under Kenny I never knew what to expect, in big games he seemed to pick a team based on the opposition rather than to suit his own teams strengths. In the lesser games there was no obvious plan A, no recognisable way of playing the game. When I watch City, Chelsea, Arsenal or United I have a good idea of what the A game is going to be. I don't get that with Liverpool.

If the new manager can find a way of playing that suits the players then it will give Liverpool the best chance of success in the short term and if the new man gets time and money to invest he should be able to find real success in the future.

Good luck getting the right man :)

Ah feck that, I don't get the dismay at Clarke leaving. It was a joint effort, he had his input too on what was a poor season.

Granted Skrtel and Agger having their first proper run together was a good reason why our defence improved but with Lucas out we got overran in midfield and caught on the counter quite a bit - that said our defensive organisation was very good.

Clarke is a great professional and he brought stability to our defence - that can't be questioned imo...if he is to leave with Kenny then I wish him all the best.

    .

to not call him by AVB. Am i the only one who this pisses off? Especially when pundits on television call him by that. Lets all just say Villas-Boas. It's only 10 letters, please. Please.

I admire Kenny a lot for taking over the club, it was never going to be easy who ever came in but we had a man with the right intentions and the heart, who wanted to take this club forward out of the darkness we were in, but this does not tarnish my view of KD. Hope he still remains around the club because he still has a role to play.
Feels like a breath of fresh air and I really hope they deliver a manager who will get us up and fighting again.

The same logic can be appleid to their decision to hire Kenny in the first place.
