    Hi
Did any one use the Garmin Lifetime Updater lately.
What a terrible piece of software. It installs and detects my Nuvi 765t fine then downloads the 2013.10 full Eurpoean maps to my PC and device. Then the problems began. I hadn't enough room on the device for the full maps so I picked Western Europe from the dropdown list options on Lifetime Updater and to my amazement I had to download these separately. It didnt pick these countries from the full European download. Another 4 hours of downloading and the software froze.
I restarted the program and thinking that it would resume from where it stopped it started to download the full European maps again.
2 Days and 12gb later I still cannot get my unit updated.
No sign of the maps on my pc and when I tried using Garmin mapinstall it could not find the latest 2013.10 maps I downloaded the pevious day.
I searched the PC including the hidden folders for the maps but they are not on the PC !
The last time I updated my maps, I downloaded them to my PC and picked the countries using Mapinstall to install on them on my device, nice and simple.
Seems that Garmin are having issues with Lifetime Updater according to the blogs and fourms so beware.

I did an update yesterday with no problems. This was for UK & Ireland only so space was not a problem. The only inconvenience was that I had to update the .net framework.

Garmins meanness with memory has always been an issue with ever expanding maps. The policy seems to be .... just enough memory for the latest release.

They are in the Business of selling sat nav's.. after all.

i put the 2013.10 onto an sd card, and with a bit of flapping i managed to completely feck things up.

so.. back to the drawing board

I never use the "Lifetime Updater"

I find the "Garmin Map Update application" (GarminMapUpdater_v3.1.12.exe), 4.4MB, a more reliable way to updates the maps on my 775t. You have the option to select the regions as well so you are not tied to download the full maps if space is an issue and you can select install to device, computer or both in "Install Options".

You can get the the file at myGarmin - myMaps, select the map to update and then choose Download Method Option 2 to save file to PC, connect device and run. Make sure your PC is not going to sleep or into hibernation during the download so select appropriate power option

Just got prompted to update to the latest Map Install and lo and behold it finally gives the option to use the SD card + internal storage to save the map data. (Nuvi 3760T + 8Gb Micro SD).

    Hi everyone,
I have a sat nav since 2009 and i was looking to update the maps on it.
I lost the USB cable for it so I went into Harvey Norman yesterday to buy a new one.
the salesman said that its better to buy a micro sd card, download the maps onto tat on my laptop and transfer them to the sat nav.
so I brought tat for 9.99. I logged on to garmin and brought nüMaps Onetime™ City Navigator® Europe NT 2013. But when I went to download it the laptop was looking for a Usb cable, there was no option as far as i could see to download it on to a card.
could anyone advbise me pleases to where i went wrong or do i need to buy a usb cable. i am not really technical savvy.
    Cheers.
