Not in the grander scheme of things, of course, but the story's entire merit and that of its retelling is firmly entrenched in its veracity, no?

I'd be more inclined to watch a poor film if it were a true story than a false one.
If it's a good film, then it doesn't matter.

127 Hours was ****e, for example. And if it hadn't happened people would have said the film was crap and completely contrived and unrealistic and even fewer people would have watched it.

This taxi-driver story isn't particularly exciting or interesting, and if it wasn't true or believed to be true (or potentially true) by its readers, then it carries no more weight, in my opinion, than the facebook story about the guy who donated his uterus to his gf to save her but died himself. Lik if u cri evry tym.
