If you're doing nothing illegal, then why the hub-bub?

It's called 'right to privacy'

Can you just imagine being "chipped" and having being scanned and the owners know your entire life history before even walking into the shop/pub/health club etc.

Jesus christ, i am so sick of people thinking they are some special little snowflake with priceless personal info.

If you're doing nothing illegal, then why the hub-bub? Just makes me think you have something to hide.

Just imagine being able to walk into a pub, and the barman telling you he has a new beer/wine in which may suit you based on your previous drinking history.
Or walking into easons and them telling you that the latest issue of what you bought last time is out
Or walking into a health club and the fitness coach being able to tell you exactly what profile you need?
Being able to shop with less mindless browsing, getting better suited drink, magazines, food, clothes etc.

Possibilities are endless, open your mind a bit.

You need to open your mind actually. We dont and never will live in a dystopian society. Personal info is precious for being personal. Knowledge of someone is power over them.
Like everything else a system like this will be abused and the further down the line you get the greater the abuse.
Targeted advertisements are not something to preach for and neither is retarded preschool level openness. Government and business can and will abuse anything to further their ends to the detriment of the people. That only takes looking at the world, and not exactly a long one.

And everyone does something illegal unless youre a child. We all cheat and lie, sometimes because we have to. Its no ones business but mine what I do and where I go. My life isnt Ed TV. Ill hide what I please and anyone that would argue with such basic principals of freedom is very foolish.

Some might even argue that the technology is safe or it will only be used for this or that but no technology is safe. The world isnt going to be any different in thr near future and corporate interests will happily lobby government into deals. Promises made are easily broken.

This will be exactly how this "Mark of the Beast" technology will be marketed and how the sheeple of society will buy it.

One only has to look at the global frenzy when the latest IPhone hits the market.

This cartoon sums it up well.:)

You've nothing to hide then, I presume. Would you kindly post up your name, address, bank account and credit card details and PPS number?

Seeing as you've nothing to hide you'll have no problem in doing so.

There will be legislation (albeit poorly written) and technical controls to hide this info from people without clearance to see it.

I have no problem with this on a chip if it makes daily life faster and easier to get through.

Just because its on a chip does not mean the doctor who scans you is going to see the ****ing receipt for the last prono you rented.

I'm still waiting for those details.

Like you said, unless you've done something illegal you should have nothing to hide.

You get caught for a public order drinking offense, your rights for purchasing alcohol can be cut off electronically.

As there is no cash alternative you are forced to obey.

That sounds brilliant. For other people, obviously. Scobie people, not people like me.

Great until your son or daughter gets caught in the wrong place at the wrong time on a bus or train and gets locked out of the public transport grid.

Yeah. More Spam. Probably with loudspeakers in the street shouting "offers" to you as you walk by.

Santander Bank want you to confirm your login.
Canadian Pharmacy want to sell you drugs.
Casino has a special bonus if you deposit cash.
Dating agency wants you to meet local singles.

    So ...

    no illegal drug trade
    no black market
    no tax evasion
    no social welfare scamming

Walking is healthy. I'd gladly sacrifice my non existent children's comfort for the good of society.

Oversee a parking fine and then discover that you are refused fuel at any service station.

Not to mention the possibility of a transaction charge and your coordinates pinpointed to the nearest centimeter on every single electronic purchase you make

Or having the extra small condoms recommended to you in a pharmacy.

If we leave aside that it's an entirely voluntary decision to join the armed forces in the first place, then yes how utterly Orwellian... My work place force me to be there 5 days a week! Fascists!

But that's the beauty of this - you couldn't forget or overlook a parking fine as they can take payment then and there off your chip. If a guy fails to turn up for court it's no problem to track him down. The more you think about it the better it sounds excepts for the criminals.

I can't see how being on a bus or train would get you locked out of the public transport grid? That sounds counter-productive.

Fare dodging, public order offenses, puking on the Nightlink etc. :p

Again, grand with that. I hate paying my fare and subsidising the scobies who never have a ticket. No-one wants to be harassed or puked on either. Kick them off - that's fine with me. It's all good so far.

It will if the shop has a transmitter to upload data to the chip! :p

Just because it's a cashless society? It would make the first two more problematic but what would stop people bartering and trading for goods and services directly? Also, plenty of things can be used as a de facto currency like food, livestock, minerals and arms.

I'll give you this chicken for a wrap of heroin, then. It would seriously cramp street dealing.

I'm in two minds on the matter as one of the 'target audience', shall we say.

On the one hand, I'm not a fan of the idea of being 'chipped.'

On the other hand, I'm also not a fan of the fates of some of the Americans who have been captured and spirited away with no idea as to where the heck they went to or, at times, even when they were taken (Eg Nick Berg, Matt Maupin): Anything which gives a chance of immediate rescue has something to recommend it.

The lads doing the capturing now will just shovel out the chip with a hot spoon before they throwing the fella into the bag

A lot of people died in WWII because ID cards and databases had too much information

    You have done something illegal.
It's a fairly safe bet you've driven a car above the speed limit, or over hatched white lines in the road. Maybe you've downloaded something or otherwise engaged in copyright infringement. Maybe what you have done isn't illegal yet or is legal here but illegal in the US, and they don't mind kidnapping people who break their laws.

    Three thousand years ago..
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shibboleth
Gilead then cut Ephraim off from the fords of the Jordan, and whenever Ephraimite fugitives said, 'Let me cross,' the men of Gilead would ask, 'Are you an Ephraimite?' If he said, 'No,' they then said, 'Very well, say "Shibboleth" (שבלת).' If anyone said, "Sibboleth" (סבלת), because he could not pronounce it, then they would seize him and kill him by the fords of the Jordan. Forty-two thousand Ephraimites fell on this occasion.
    —Judges 12:5-6
