Windows won't start after new motherboard added

    I just got a new motherboard

    I got the MSI Z77A-G43 S1155

    The PC starts and you can enter the BIOs

    It you let the PC boot you see the windows logo for a second then you get a screen saying Windows can not book and offers you to reboot or restore.

    I restored and it said it was fixed. But the same thing happens over and over.

    Any ideas ?

    I've a Intel Core i5-2500K Box, LGA1155 and 8 gig ram installed.

    it's win 7 installed.

    I only built it the other day with a different motherboard. But I got p!ssed off trying to fix the PCIe problems.

    i removed a stick of ram and disconnected anything that wasn't needed to start the PC and the same problem is occurring.

    Change BIOS HDD setting to AHCI.

    It's located in advanced>integrated peripherals>SATA mode.

    I just checked it's already set to AHCI

    Hmmm kinda reminds me of something that happened me, I changed The boot up to cd and had to reinstall windows

    ahh really... I've work on the HDD I need.

    Try IDE? :p
    No seriously, try it, nothing bad's going to happen I swear. I restored the BIOS defaults on my board after I messed something up, same thing happened. I went into the BIOS and changed the setting. I'm also certain it was IDE and I changed it to AHCI but you could try IDE just to be sure.

    Failing that, as already pointed out you can just do a reinstall. It is a new motherboard after all.

    ill wait a little while and see if anyone has any other suggestions.

    I'll do it tomorrow if i need to.

    I'll try partition the HDD or something.

    You'd be very lucky to get windows to boot after swapping the motherboard. drivers are installed during windows installation that won't be correct on the new board. a fresh install is the only way to go.

    you can put the SSD into your other PC and copy off the files you need.

    God this turned into a nightmare for you :(

    If it doesn't work (prob won't) just do a reinstall after moving your files onto a different computer as Tea_Bag said.

    Before doing a clean install, try booting into windows in safe mode & try updating the Motherboard drivers while in safe mode. Worth a try at least.

    won't even let me into safe mode..

    I connected the HDD to my old PC and i'm transferring the files.

    Once done i'm going to reinstall windows.

    Well its all installed and all working... Thank f%*k :)

    Just have to install all my softwares now.
