Edit: thanks to my wife for covering my marshal duty to enable me to race! What a woman!
She didnt have a choice as she was dumped at the corner of the 5 roads a good 45mns before the race start and when myself and treborm (?) got to the roundabout she was freezing and very dissillusioned.
Anyway it was a pleasure to meet her and give here a lift to the finish as she hadnt a clue how she was gonna get back to the start/finish.

She told me it was 30 mins before!

Group 2 was broken in 2 first time up the nags head, I was in the front bunch and I think we stayed ahead until caught by group 3? half way up the main road to the nags head 2nd time, and the resulting splintered lead group caught by scratch just before the top of the hill? I couldn't hold onto the main lead bunch up nags head, dropped about 2/3 of the way up, and finished in a small grupetto prob a minute or 2 behind the sprint. Good fun.

Groupetto? Really? Is that a small group? A small groupetto must be really small so!!!

Yep we did. Managed to get into that front bunch first time up but no chance holding on with the leaders the 2nd time around. Was in my own groupetto too for a while until a few km from the end.

The up & overs were pretty inconsistent in Group 2 so no wonder we got caught so early. Good race all the same & blessed the rain held off.

Aye the up and overs really collapsed both times going up the main road into the headwind, probably cost us the chance of staying away I think.

I recommend you try one of the Club introductoy spins. It may help you and the others who "hammered it off the front" understand how a CP works, and the tactics to employ to improve your chances of winning;)

Ah bog off you auld git! If you ain't at the race then no comments allowed! It's not about winning. It's about suffering and suffering better and someday maybe winning! I had my fun and that's all that matters!

Really enjoyed tonight's race, my first outing in this year's league. I was in Group 4 and the first lap was fast. We caught group 3 just after Ballyboughil and Group 2 on the main road. There were a few more riders after that, the last of them at the bottom of the climb. I stayed near the front on the way up and broke away over the top. It was all to no avail though as I was caught on the way down to Ballyboughil - should have gone earlier but wouldn't have stayed away anyway.

There was about 6-7 of us in the lead group heading towards the finish. Riders started to sit up and get ready for the sprint - bad idea. I made a pretty pathetic effort at the sprint only to find that there was no-one at what I thought was the finish line. We all looked quizzically at one another and then scratch arrived just as the actual finish line came into view. They took the pots and I think I got 9th overall.

Thanks a million to Breda, the marshalls, lead moto and car drivers and those taking photos. You can keep your open races - you can't beat the league.

Can anyone tell me who the sign on car belonged to this week? Can't remember, was it Breda McNally?

Yes - she was looking for someone at the finish who had left some stuff in the car and hadn't collected it.

Was in the car leading G4 tonght and thought they worked very well to catch G3. Bit a mess when a car was let through the Nags head junction and heald up the group badly for a bit. Thisnk the poor feckers were shocked to see 30 odd cyclists whizz past them :D

Cold night for it and good safe hard riding by most as far as I could see. great race circuit and that climb certainly thins the groups out...

Nothing like a club league race to have your ass kicked :o
Group 3 were working well i hung on ok the first time over the climb,on the 2nd lap we caught some and some caught us so it was a good size group heading for the hill on lap 2, i done a few turns on the main road to help catch the last of the groups bad idea i found myself at the front as we started to climb i was going ok but ran out of steam 3/4 way up i should have got back in but i was lacking a bit of commitment,3 of us got together we rode through one group and got within 20m of the lead group i was fuc#ked at that stage just then the scratch swept passed i missed the tow again hanging just off the back till the village but they were gone at that stage,a few of got together and drilled to the line, wasnt happy when their was no one at the old line didnt fancy another lap so happy to see the new line, thanks to all super race,i enjoyed it
Roll on the open race over the weekend so i can take it easy ;)

Last week was hard but this week felt like a step too far at times. Only my 2nd race, was going well enough except for that damn hill, getting to the nags head just took too much out of me after Group 4 caught me in Group 3. Haven't a clue were I finished, how I got there or what day it is, but I'll be back for more punishment.

What were the numbers like this week? Haven't been out yet this year, but might get out next week. However I'm an outsider (although I did a few races last year and the year before) so don't want to be turning up to get turned away.

Can I have your A3 numbers then? :D

72 signed on I think. Much more manageable than previous week. Still better off signing on early.

Great race last night, felt a lot safer than last week. Started off in group2, got over the hill the first time with the first half of the group, we did a bit of work but I don't think we were ever going to stay away from the combined grp3/4 that caught us on the N1. Stayed with the bunch along the N1 until the climb, but got shelled on the 2nd time up the climb, ran out of heartbeats, had to back off a bit. Joined up with about 6 or 7 others just after the top and came in with them to the finish, I suppose we were a minute or two behind the main bunch. Sorry to see 07LaPierre calf-cramping on the run in to the finish [at least I think it was 07LaPierre ?]

Very enjoyable, and well run, thanks to all the Marshalls, and to Breda for sign on.
