Thanks, got a time alright on the phone. Pity there's no online timesheet though as it's nearly the norm now.

Fair dues, you'll be brimming with confidence so plotting your way around the course. Course and prizes must have been decent so last time to get you to return.

Depends what 2 out of the 3 nine holes they use. Last year was Red/Yellow but Blue/Yellow would usually be their main course. Prizes were decent alright - just nice to get your name on a trophy - might be a long time before it happens again!

Id expect the Senior/Junior to be played over yellow/blue on Monday

For those of you playing in Lucan tmw I can confirm the greens are extremely slick again this year, having played on them this morning. Will be very tricky if that strong breeze keeps up.

The Lucan Golf Club senior scratch cup was won by Mullingar's Gary Shaw with rounds of 73, 72. Won on countback after Richard Bridges of Stackstown shot the same 2 scores, so went down to the back 9 in rd2! Had the pleasure of bringing in the winner, so he showed me how my own course should be played :p

Junior Scratch Cup was won by Sean Boore, a local junior member, who shot 73, 78. Again, won on countback.

74,74. JSC CSS was 72,73. Can't explain why both were so different unfortunately...

How did you guys get on, couldn't get the run of the patchy greens myself and my iron shots were letting me down also. Very slow day which made it even more of a struggle, some massive scores recorded (156) in the minor scratch cup which might explain why things were so slow.
Results are now up on HowDidIDo and surprisingly poor, although perhaps not so much so given some of the ridiculous pin positions. Big bone of contention for me was the 8th hole which was marked on the card at 161 yards when in fact was playing over 190 yards over water into the breeze, no excuse for the distance not being correct on the card.

Top 4 results taken for each Scratch Cup:
    Minor 1st - 91, 2nd 93, 3rd 94, 4th 94 (CSS 73)
    Intermediate 1st - 78, 2nd 80, 3rd 81, 4th 81 (CSS 72)
    Junior 1st - 74, 2nd 75, 3rd 78, 4th 81 (CSS 73)
    Senior 1st - 75, 2nd 75, 3rd 80, 4th 80 (CSS 72)

    Senior 1st - 75, 2nd 75, 3rd 80, 4th 80 (CSS 72)

The 8th hole is a new tee box, only introduced last month I think which explains the incorrect distance. Should have been a sign on the tee. It also wasn't meant to be in play for the inter/minor scratch cups on Sunday.

Like a lot of places they are struggling with the greens.

Big difference between Hollystown on Monday and Lucan on Sunday:eek:

Hollystown was tough off back sticks..... plus I putted appallingly on sub standard greens (still no excuse for c. 8 3 putts)....... we really are spoiled in Wicklow with the condition of our course......

I had 84 net which was my worst score of the year so far.......

it was slow until b9 when guys in front just gave up and played quickly...... overall I enjoyed the course... it needs a few quid extra spent on greens and general maintenance but has some nice holes..... there are some dangerous holes with a lot of holes verry close to each other...a little dangerous.......

I thought it wasn't too bad, the 8th got me as well, i played a 7 in thinking i had loads due to the distance on the card, was all over the pin but i knew in the air it was short! got up and down for the par mind you.

i put a ball out of bounds on the 5th which set my card a bit wayward as i had a triple bogey, and another double somewhere else. a lot of three putts too. Came in with an 82 so wasnt overly bad considering.

78 won it with 80 runner up.

Shot 82 on the Monday - greens were better Monday than Sunday according to my playing partners who played both days. Some tricky pins just about on the greens and sitting on some nice slopes. 3 doubles didn't help my cause especially on the first! Off to New Ross this Saturday.

Crap on the Fota JSC, I'm away the bank holiday weekend.
Cork Golf Clubs Junior Scratch Cup is open already. Sunday 15th July.

On possibly the worst online booking system ever! :)www.webgolf.ie
I signed up and instead of letting you use your own username like normal websites it gives you a pin number as a username. It doesn't ensure you put in an email address so I've booked my time but can't be sure because I can't remember my username/pin number.. I didn't get an email to confirm anything because I didn't put one in. I emailed webgolf about 2 days ago and still haven't got a reply. I think I'm booked in for 9.07am though :)
