Tractor without log book

Hi, I am thinking of buying a 92 tractor from a neighbour. The tractor has been very well maintained but there is no log book with it. How can I transfer ownership without a log book? The tractor is on northern reg plates. Current owner has had the tractor for the past 15 years. Can I register it on Irish plates without…

Hi,

Thanks.
I am toying with the idea of not registering it. It will be doing very very little road work. Once I can insure it, I will be happy. The thought of dealing with government departments and the likes is giving me a headache already!!!

If it is doing any road work it will need to be registered!

I would imagine you will have to show proof of ownership to get it registered though and that would mean the seller would have to have proof of ownership so he can transfer it to you.

Could get good and messy if its ever stolen, who would be able to prove ownership?

Be very careful as present owner did not register if you try to register now I think ( not 100% sure) but you have to pay penelty on orginal registerisation fee it could run well into the hundreds get present owner to register before you pay.
