    As I was saying to shopaholic01's boobs the other day, I'm neither particularly popular nor unpopular with the ladies.

    It's a bit hard to tell as I don't go out pubbing/clubbing too often, but I'd usually get a little bit of attention when I'm out, just from a few girls, hardly all of them.

    I wouldn't tend to deliberately approach women, mostly out of laziness, but I'd sometimes find myself chatting to someone through them initiating it or a "meet-cute."

    I'm pretty average really: average looking, and just about not boring enough to be roundly mocked.

    Luckily, I'm ably assisted by my male friends, who through combinations of factors including drunkenness, excessive nerdiness, awkward approaches to women and sheer charmlessness, make me look much better by comparison when I'm out with them.

    Mind you, I did get reduced-price food on a few occasions from a girl who had a bit of a crush on me, and isn't that really what it's all about?

    It's an old movie term: basically it's when the couple in romantic comedies meet for the first time, usually by accidently bumping into each other in some way that's meant to be cute or adorable.

    Probably the most common close equivalents on your average Irish night out would be asking someone to move out of your way at the bar and then chatting to them, or spilling your drink on someone then seeing where it goes from there.
