eBay rover links never work for me?

Often eBay sends mails to me with rover links in them, that is to say hyperlinks I can click that should open an eBay page with say an elert on them.

They are usually in the format of:

    http://rover.ebay.com/rover/blahblahblah

blahblahblah being cryptic letters and numbers to bring me to the page ebay is trying to show me.

The problem is whenever I try to open these links from my Gmail using Firefox I get a 'Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at rover.ebay.com.' message.

Pasting the link into IE gives a 'Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage' and an option to diagnose connection problems, all other pages seem to work fine.

Importantly if I just make up web page I do not see the same message, I get a basic message from Ad-Aware saying the page does not exist.

    Any ideas?

Are you sure these are genuine emails from ebay?

Can you cut & paste who is sending you the mail. My last ebay email came from ebay@ebay.com

If you use gmail there is a drop down menu which allows you to 'show original'

    Return-Path: <ebay@ebay.com>
    Received: from mxslcpool58.ebay.com (mxslcpool58.ebay.com. [66.135.215.159])
