Booking flights with lastminute.com

Thinking about booking flights to nyc in july and can get cheap-ish flights on lastminute.com flying with klm via amsterdam. Can anyone tell me why there flights are cheaper than the airlines and what are the chances that i wont get a call a week before my departure date telling me my seat has been cancelled! Appreciate…

Travel agencies often have block purchased x number of seats at y price from an airline and may even have some left when the airline itself has sold out of seats at y price.
