Dortmund President Michael Zorc: "Shinji Kagawa is going to play in England because he has officially rejected our offer of a new contract"

Above is from a random United Supporters page I follow on Facebook, so take it with a pinch of salt. However, if true, I'd be very happy if Kagawa was on his way to OT.

I think it's too harsh on SAF and the team. After 36 games they are level on points with a team who have spend an average of 100 million a year for 4 years and signed an entire squad's worth of players.

They are the only team in the league with wins in double figures both home and away. United have often lost both their games to their nearest rival in a season and still won the league.

They had an 8 match winning streak before they, as you say "bottled it". They caught up to a team which looked like for much of the season they would walk the league.

It's hardly pathetic to be in second place on goal difference, 17 points ahead of third placed Arsenal and 22 points ahead of Champions League finalists Chelsea.

What SAF and United have achieved this season so far has been amazing; just like every other Premier League season! Whether it has been the skills of Arsenal, the determination of Pool, the millions of Chelsea and now the soon to be billions of City, it's always SAF and United who are up there to the end season after season!

I agreed with absolutely everything you said except this. The match on Monday night was evidence of that. At 1-0 up and totally dominating, they brought on Nigel De Jong and decided that 1 goal was enough. We just so ****ing bad that it made no difference and they actually nearly got more despite only having Aguero in our half at some stages. Mancini is a naturally defensive manager and often "reverts to type" by bringing on defensive minded players to see the game out, so do most clubs, but City's attackers are so good that they often exploit the counter and score more, again, we our an example with the 6-1 at Old Trafford.

Should have said against the smaller teams, it's foolish not to shore up in must win games when you have the lead, case in point United against Everton, Phil Jones comes on to play midfield at 4-2 and United are champions. It goes back to the tactics thing again and knowing when to implement them. Against the small teams City play open, expansive, quick passing and runs football. Against the bigger teams they are looking for a more methodical approach. Pretty much exactly like United in 2007-9. Fergie tried to distance himself from Queiroz tactically I think in recent years to his detriment.

7 million for him would be great IMO.

The talk of him joining last season seemed at a very advanced stage, I presume it was a Ronaldo style deal where he'd give them one more season, didn't he say he wanted to join United last year too?

7 million would be fantastic value. Whilst he's not a player I think we need, would rather someone like Fellaini, for 7 million, we aren't going to do much better

Was about to say the exact same thing myself.

If Berba leaves and we get Kagawa plus one or two solid central midfielders our squad would be insane.

I'm very confident that we wouldn't get him for 7m. Several clubs will show interest in him which is only going to drive is price up dramatically. Remember we were meant to be getting Young for around £10m?

And a left back, don't forget.

I'm not so sure we will buy at LB. With Nathan Clyne possibly coming in and Fergie's insistance that all defenders do at job in at least 2 positions along the back 4, I think that's all she wrote. I'm hoping Evra bangs his head getting out of his car one day and realises that it is important to close down a cross. He did it against City and had a good game, more of the same please Pat.

While I applaud people's optimism it's pathetic at this stage that United need a Newcastle result to win the title. City should win comfortably really, they'll be buzzing after playing United and I would expect their swagger from early season to have returned. United bottled it, plain and simple. When a team doesn't have the steel to hold a potentially title winning 2 goal lead against Everton then there is something wrong and in a way I'd rather United didn't get anything this season as it would paper over the cracks of what is a United team that is without direction for the first time in years.

Good post, but you make it sound as though Newcastle have nothing to play for and the game is a forgone conclusion, this is a tough fixture for both teams and both have a hell of a lot to play for.

Winning or coming second in the league isn't going to change anything imo, our weaknesses have been exposed far too many times this season and no silverware will paper over those cracks, our early CL exit was a clear wake up call for Fergie and that's not something he's going to forget if we do happen to win the league.

Forever the optimist,I'm of the opinion that Newcastle will get some kind of result against City.I just hope that we don't make a balls of things against Swansea seeing as we managed to do just that against Wigan & Everton, both teams we should have been able to dispatch.

I cant see us signing a lb. it will be a rb or somebody comfortable on both flanks or in otherwords, it wont be to replace evra as alot of people think here. fabio going on loan suggests we need cover, thats it.

Someone is very quick on wikipedia. Bit premature no?
Shinji Kagawa (香川 真司 Kagawa Shinji?) (born 17 March 1989) is a Japanese footballer who plays for Premier League club Manchester United and the Japan national football team.

And what happens if Evra gets a long term injury? Do you rely on a teenage RB whose neevr played in the EPL before to be your LB?

Evans can play LB and Evra hasn't really had any long term injuries in his career

Do they know something we dont? Althought it's Wiki and Youtube. So no.

Is the Swansea game home or away? Utd won 1-0 last fixture?

I think Wigan have shown that they are up for it lately by following up with wins at Arsenal and 4-0 against Newcastle. Typically at least one relegation team sparks to life near the end of the season.

Everton have typically been good finishers to the season, but letting a two goal lead slip twice in that game was terrible from United.

I would consider not beating Swansea at home to be a worse reflection of United than the other two results. In fact they should be able to win this by at least 4 goals; especially as Wolves were able to put 4 past them last week.

Suprised at the move for Fabio he looked impressive last year. Dont understand why Evra seems undroppable. Keep Fabio and rest Evra more next year easing Fabio in as his successor.

Evra must have some serious shít on Fergie that he keeps reminding him of every day to still have not been dropped even once. I find it amazing that he's letting Fabio go when you consider how much of a weak link LB is and has been for us for a good while now.

No, I am not a United fan. True, I could look these things up [bbc.co.uk/sport is my friend!], but more hoping for Utd fans to talk about things and read what they have to say when I ask questions.

I think the feeling behind the question is, that if you are a United fan, you really would know this stuff, i.e who is left to play and is the game home or away, its just strange that you wouldnt you know?

By the by, if we get Kagawa for as little as 7 million that is potentially one unbelievable piece of business! Cant believe he will go for so little though. Would be happy with that addition, a bit of steel for the middle of the park and I'd be delighted then, also a change of heart over Fabio, let him fight it out with Evra for first choice next season. The only reason I can see for the loan, if he is to have a future at the club is to give him consistent top level experience before he takes over from Evra season after next.

Eduardo da Silva didn't before that game against Birmingham. Also, Evans will be needed at CB.
