Have as much faith as you want, but no way are City going to throw away the title now that they have been handed it back. Would Utd?

You answering yourself or asking yourself???

There's a damn good chance of United winning the league still.... City are favourites, but there is a definite possibility that Newcastle will take points from City, and the fact that Newcastle won last night and are neck and neck with Tottenham can only be a good thing for us.

Let me ask serious Utd fans this: If Utd weren't in the position that they needed someone like Newcastle to beat City in order to have a chance for the title, would you still be so confident of Newcastle beating them?

Beating them, I'm not so sure, taking points off them, yes, it's quite a strong possibility.

Arsenal, Stoke, Sunderland & Swansea and to a lesser extent Norwich were all games I suspected they would struggle to bag 3 points, Newcastle is another fixture that belongs on that list, it's got nothing to with our current predicament, it's simply a matter of judging home and away form and styles of football each team plays.

Imagine if City easily bet Newcastle and then lost to QPR :P

Manchester United are still the Premier League Champions! Manchester City do not have any Premier League title to throw away yet, just an 8 goal lead.

The biggest pain would be if City fail to beat Newcastle but then United fail to beat Sunderland on the last day! :(

I don't think I can help with your confusion by explaining it in a more simplistic manner than I already have.

100% agree. Will United chase Sneijder again? Hazard is hot stuff for all the top European clubs too, but would he fit or make the transition to EPL? (Could say the same for Sneijder but I feel confident he would, he's played at Champions League, Euro Cup and World Cup level).

Will be in Manchester mid afternoon on Saturday, can't wait. Been 4 years since I've been over...
Hope to God Newcastle can do us a favour - think there's a good chance of it happening.

Looking forward to the weekend in any case - 14 of us going - should be a laugh!

    No that ship has sailed

    1. Hes too injury prone
2 He doesnt fit the age profile
3 His form has suffered because of his injuries
    4. Would still be too expensive

I don't think Sneijder will happen. I would love to see Hazard come to us but I wouldn't be surprised to see a few smaller players in terms of media exposure like Sigurdson (sp?).

I think we'll sign Kawaga actually

I forgot about Kagawa actually. I just hope that we sign a defensive midfielder this year. I would love to see Javi Martinez at United.

Am I the only one in thinking that we shouldn't prioritize signing a Sneijder or Hazard (even though the latter is a great prospect) but instead we should be looking to sign 2 midfielders (I think) who are going to add some steel in the middle? Players that will get stuck in and make tackles as well as setting up play.

Having to call on Park for the biggest game of the year? I understand why, but Manchester United should have higher caliber midfielders IMO.

If its true that there will be a few players leaving this summer that should free up the budget enough to get at least three players, one of which could be a high-profile player like Hazard. I agree completely with you about needing steel in the middle though. Its something we've really lacked this year.

United should prioritize the signing of NUFC scouts! :pac:

I think most fans do prioritise CM but most of us have come to accept Fergie is keen on an ACM (judging by his chase of Sneijder last season and links to Kagawa and Gaitan)

I'll be there on Sunday too. A few weeks ago I was hoping it would be a title celebration, being last home game and all. A Newcastle result will suffice for me now. Here's hoping for a great weekend.

While I applaud people's optimism it's pathetic at this stage that United need a Newcastle result to win the title. City should win comfortably really, they'll be buzzing after playing United and I would expect their swagger from early season to have returned. United bottled it, plain and simple. When a team doesn't have the steel to hold a potentially title winning 2 goal lead against Everton then there is something wrong and in a way I'd rather United didn't get anything this season as it would paper over the cracks of what is a United team that is without direction for the first time in years.

Even in the mid-noughties "barren period" there was hope with players like Ronaldo and Rooney still young and the experience still there and some kind of tactical focus. The team now has no direction, there is plenty of talent but no philosophy or drive in the team, they rely on Rooney, Valencia or Nani to create something with individual brilliance rather than tactically outclass inferior opponents in the manner most big clubs should. To be fair it is a tactic that with these players has merits against the smaller teams but in the big games or when they are put under pressure they are like deer in the headlights.

A change has to happen at management level down imo to get back on track, we got lucky this year for a long time scraping results in games that should have been out of reach by the 70th minute but either went behind to a cheap goal or scored one and seemingly settled. That is not how a top club should be playing and certainly not how City play. Now City went through a rough patch but you can see they do always have options and contingency plans and always go for the throat when they get the lead. For large parts of the season United seem to have a one track mind that eventually the other team will just let them win and one goal is grand. The amount of times United have gone behind and then started playing is shocking.

I agreed with absolutely everything you said except this. The match on Monday night was evidence of that. At 1-0 up and totally dominating, they brought on Nigel De Jong and decided that 1 goal was enough. We just so ****ing bad that it made no difference and they actually nearly got more despite only having Aguero in our half at some stages. Mancini is a naturally defensive manager and often "reverts to type" by bringing on defensive minded players to see the game out, so do most clubs, but City's attackers are so good that they often exploit the counter and score more, again, we our an example with the 6-1 at Old Trafford.
